rianvi Posted July 29, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 29, 2007 Just a couple of questions that came up in our roll call for Bermuda. How many formal nights nights? Are there fridges in the staterooms? Boarding in Philly...parking rates...do you board the ship right from the terminal or do you have to board a bus? My Mum uses a walker just wondering how easy embarktion is. Thankyou in advance for all responses. Peace, Anna

That includes the JS cabins. I do not know about the higher up suites. Royal Suite or Owners Suite. There are safes in the rooms.
Bell Ringer Posted July 29, 2007 #3 Share Posted July 29, 2007 There are 2 formal nights. The first is Sunday ( sea day) and the 2nd is Thursday ( after leaving to head home.) Hope that helps. Have a great trip. Ours was wonderful, but we left from Norfolk.
bermudashorts Posted July 29, 2007 #4 Share Posted July 29, 2007 2 formal no fridge safes in closet if you drive by car you can pull up right to the check in area and remove luggage and extra passengers the driver will then have to go to the parking lot and catch a bus back. it took about 10-15 minutes for them to return to us. then you check in and there is a waiting area. Id make sure you got there early. we were on board by noon. there is a long (can be steep for some) ramp that goes to the ship Im sure they would have wheelchairs at the ready for her to use Terri's pictures http://travel.webshots.com/album/551274208dCksno?track_pagetag=/page/photo/travel/ustravel&track_action=/ViewActions/FullAlbum http://cruisephilly.org/pages/visitors/parking.html *
ms8654 Posted July 29, 2007 #5 Share Posted July 29, 2007 We took the Empress a year ago to Bermuda from Philly. As a suggestion, bring some seasickness medicine even if you are not prone to illness. That ship ROCKS (and I mean that literally). We talked with people in port from other larger ships and they had no problems. I was okay if I went outside to get fresh air. Apple juice is supposed to be good for seasickness....something about the fiber. Don't know if it is true, but I drank a ton of it each morning on the deck. Figured it couldn't hurt. I was okay headed back. I'd be curious if this is normal on that ship or was it just our trip?
vator90 Posted July 29, 2007 #6 Share Posted July 29, 2007 We took the ship out of Philly last summer as well. I believe the cost of parking is $10.00 per day. Payment up front. I hate to see them leaving Philly, it was probably the easiest time we ever had as far as parking, luggage, and boarding. The port was a snap to find as well. Enjoy your trip. gnparend Posted July 29, 2007 #7 Share Posted July 29, 2007 If you need a fridge for Insulin tell the cabin steward and they will make arrangements for you. They do have small portable units on most ships.
ebk2795 Posted July 29, 2007 #8 Share Posted July 29, 2007 Anna, Here is the CruisePhilly link: http://cruisephilly.org/index.php If you click the button for parking and drop-off, there is a link on the left for people traveling with special needs. Hope this helps. Eileen
