Recommended Posts

Trying to get some feedback on things to do....experiences to have on the Canada/New England/Quebec Explorer of the Seas next October. Here are our ports:

Sydney, Nova Scotia

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island

cruising the Saquenay River (whales?)

Quebec

Halifax

What should we not miss if possible?

Weather in October....assume jeans/pants and sweatshirts, mittens, hats?

thanks for any help!

There are plenty of things to do and see right in Charlottetown, http://www.walkandseacharlottetown.com/ and http://www.city.charlottetown.pe.ca/visitors/attractions.cfm offer a lot of suggestions.

If you want a broader view of the province, take a Panoramic Island tour and if you're an Anne of Green Gables fan there are plenty of "Anneland" tours available.

There are plenty of walking and or cycling trails in Charlottetown and vicinity if that's something that interests you.

You will see lots of whales at Tadoussac prior to Quebec City.

In Quebec take a city tour that includes visiting the Fort. Make sure the tour includes the changing of the guard. It is once per day.

Chateau Frontenac is the major hotel in Quebec City. You can see it from the ship. Walk up the hill towards the hotel. Most tours [by bus & horse and carriage] originate at the hotel.

Walk in the hotel and visit the bar at the end of the main hall. It is built similar to a ships wheelhouse overlooking the St Lawerence River.

Bon Voyage.

We have been to all of these, you will have a wonderful visit in the Maritimes. The people there are so nice. Now QC is a different story, even though it a beautiful city the locals are not as warm and helpful. IMO
