Walking to Port Everglades pier

Recommended Posts

We are staying at Extended Stay the night before our cruise. I was wondering if it is possible just to walk to the pier? Do they let you walk in or do you have to arrive by a vehicle or bus? Has anyone ever walked in? I know it is not far from hotel to gate but is is far from the gate to the terminal - we are going on the Caribbean Princess

Thanks in advance for info

It's not pedestrian friendly, the security checkpoints at the port entrances do not accomodate pedestrians, there's really no where to walk to. There is no pedestrian access to the piers. You can't even get close to the water. It's open 24/7 with fuel tanker trucks, tractor trailers etc coming and going all the time. It's nothing like the piers you see on tv or the movies.

Cab fares less then $10. If you enjoy walking, head east over the SE 17th Street Causeway bridge (awsome views of the port), continue walking about 1.5 miles and you'll hit Ft.Lauderdale beach.
