AWED23 Posted August 29, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 29, 2007 What length of Cruise do you prefer?.....
eh2zed Posted August 29, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 29, 2007 We like cruises 14+ days. Seven days are fine too but now seem so short. Particularly if we are going to Europe or Asia we want to make it more worthwhile with more ports and better value on the air fare.
TravlGrl Posted August 29, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 29, 2007 For me it's really more based on what I can afford. I would prefer to never work again and simply cruise to my last days. :D
bubbles1209 Posted August 29, 2007 #4 Share Posted August 29, 2007 I would prefer to never work again and simply cruise to my last days I'll 2nd that, you couldn't have put it any better. However, until we win the lottery and we can do what we prefer, we'll just have to stick with the 7 & 8 day cruises that our vacation time allows us. paul929207 Posted August 29, 2007 #5 Share Posted August 29, 2007 Our longest so far is 21 days - not long enough. We are booked on a 35 day next year. I am hoping to talk DW into a world cruise in the next few years.
Grandpaul Posted August 30, 2007 #6 Share Posted August 30, 2007 We've been on several longer cruises but we like 9 day cruises. If you ask my why, I couldn't tell you. It just seems to fit.
craigkell Posted August 30, 2007 #7 Share Posted August 30, 2007 I Love To Go Longer . . . But That Bill At The End With Booze Is A Killer !
MsMinx Posted August 30, 2007 #8 Share Posted August 30, 2007 I voted 10-15 days. I never feel that a week is long enough but anything over 2 weeks (for me) is a bit too long. I can pack enough clean undies and clothes for 2 weeks, but after that i'd have to fight the droves of people wanting to wash and I couldn't be bothered LOL! Also, as much as I love cruising, i'm a real homebody and can't bear to be away for too long.
Rare carlmm Posted August 30, 2007 #9 Share Posted August 30, 2007 A week is too short. After maybe 10 or 12 days one is settled thus everything above two weeks becomes really nice.
Spikesgirl Posted August 30, 2007 #10 Share Posted August 30, 2007 We prefer the 14+ cruises as they seem to be less port intensive as some of the shorter ones - the older I get, the more I appreciate sea days! Charlie
Grandpaul Posted August 30, 2007 #11 Share Posted August 30, 2007 Amen to the sea days. The more the better. I go cruising to get away from land.
waiting2retire Posted August 31, 2007 #12 Share Posted August 31, 2007 I voted for 10 - 15 days because that's all the time and money I can afford. I have promised myself a transatlantic cruise shortly after I retire, and after that, the cruises will be as long as I can afford to do :D Bonnie

I agree about the longer the better cruise, especially if you are having to use expensive airfare. My longest cruise has been 28 days. I was happy, but I also was ready to come home at that time. Maybe a couple of more days at sea. giggle! Barb
martinimadam Posted August 31, 2007 #15 Share Posted August 31, 2007 Like Trvlgrl said, there's a difference between what I prefer and what I can afford, both in vacation days and on cost of cruise. I think I could be one of those people who could just get on a cruise and never get off. Right now, the best I can do is 10 - 14. I went on a 7 day last year, and it was waaaay to short for me. Takes me at least a couple days to unwind from work!
sayaguru Posted August 31, 2007 #16 Share Posted August 31, 2007 I picked 10-15days but I have not done a cruise over 11 days. I used to think it would get boring but Im beginning to change my mind. I'll have to try a longer one to see. We are hopefully doing a Europe cruise next year. 14days+ will be nice. I guess if there are lots of ports you need the cruise to be longer so you have some sea days to relax.
JanineM Posted September 1, 2007 #17 Share Posted September 1, 2007 If I could bring my kitties along, I'd sail for a month. But after a week I just miss them too much ...
Host Kewlguy Posted September 1, 2007 #18 Share Posted September 1, 2007 Two weeks is just about right. If we were retired our cruises would be much longer. We have a long time to go before that.
montana200024 Posted September 1, 2007 #19 Share Posted September 1, 2007 14+ days... 1st cruise 7 days...too short 2nd cruise 7 days ...way to short 3rd , 4th, 5th and now 6th , ...14 days... when flying to and from..you have to figure one day there, one day back, and no time to enjoy.. being a Canadian, and our dollar is going good...we can do 14 for the same price as 7 now...and hopefully next year or so..we will do 21... ,
