m steve Posted September 4, 2007 #3 Share Posted September 4, 2007 I have been going to Secret Harbour as a cruise passenger or land visitor since 73. It is located on Nasareth Bay on the east end close to the Ritz. They have a secluded beach with a snorkle trail, dive shop, great restaurant and beach bar. The bath rooms are used for changing. If there is a beach boy working he collects $5 per lounge and there is plenty of shade. This place is great if you have small children. The story here is that you are expected to spend some money at the bar and restaurant if using the beach. A cab will take you there and they will call one for your return. Closest area is Red Hook where the ferry to St. John runs. There is some shopping there. It's an easy run from Havensight dock, a bit longer from Crown Bay. By the way, there are plenty of fish to see if you snorkle and you can't rent your gear there as well.

Can anyone tell me how it is compared to Sapphire as far as refreshments/food, beauty, shade, sand texture, crowds? Thanks!
JP32 Posted September 15, 2007 #5 Share Posted September 15, 2007 We always go there when we stay at St. Thomas. Terrific snorkeling, Blue Moon restaurant is good and lots of Iguana's running around:cool: JOHN
The Islander Posted September 22, 2007 #6 Share Posted September 22, 2007 A taxi from Havensight to Secret Harbour is around $10 or $11 per person one way. Secret Harbor has a good restaurant on the beach. Both are pretty beaches. Shade can be found under the trees at both. At Sapphire there are pebbles on one side of the beach and its sandy on the other. At Secret Harbor the shore is mostly sandy but in the water there are some rocky spots, water is clear so you can navigate around them. Sapphire is more popular with cruise ship passengers than Secret Harbor, so if there are several ships in port then Sapphire will be busier with cruise passengers. Both beaches have hotels on site, so if its a high season there will also be hotel guests on the beach. Secret Harbor doesn't have a whole lot of beach chairs and if they are busy in terms of the hotel then they may not rent chairs to non-guests. Sapphire has chairs stacked up, you can rent them from the watersports booth. Snorkeling is good at both. --Islander

We have planned to go to Sapphire Beach, but it worries me that we may not be able to have lunch and drinks there (we plan to have a full beach day). So we may have to try Secret Harbor instead. Do you know if it is still possible to order a delivered lunch at Sapphire? I remember reading in the past that their were some menus at the snack shop (or somewhere??) and that the restaurants would deliver to the beach.
