barbarah33 Posted September 6, 2007 #3 Share Posted September 6, 2007 We normally sail with a group of 6: 3 of us are platinum and 3 of us are not. We have never had a problem with everyone checking in at the platinum line - but we do have a platinum member in each cabin. If you are the only 2 who are platinum and you are in a cabin together I don't know about the other 5 people in your group who I am assuming are not in your cabin with you. FredS Posted September 6, 2007 #4 Share Posted September 6, 2007 Depends on when you check in and where. I have been in check-ins where other check-in lines have had fewer passengers in line than the Plat. line has had. I generally just look for the shortest line. Toto2Kansas Posted September 6, 2007 #5 Share Posted September 6, 2007 We normally don't even use the Platinum/Elite check in lines. Occasionally the line is shorter, but that depends on the cruise you are taking. Most times the regular lines for check in are much shorter. MaryPoppinz Posted September 6, 2007 #6 Share Posted September 6, 2007 We never use it either. The disembarkation lounge, definitely.

katier825 Posted September 27, 2007 #8 Share Posted September 27, 2007 As a Platinum member, you don't have to wait in the long lines outside either. Show you paperwork to a Princess rep and they will direct you ahead of the regular line and into the security line. I like this perk the best! :)
fathercop Posted September 27, 2007 #9 Share Posted September 27, 2007 We also have never had a problem checking in with non-platinum, Princess cruisers. When we were in the Mexican Riviera, we were among the fist dozen or so on the ship. My MIL and her bachelor friend were able to come along right with us. This time, we are bringing my brother and SIL for their first cruise. Check-in can sometime be long in FLL, so the preferred check-in may be helpful. prarie cruiser Posted September 27, 2007 #11 Share Posted September 27, 2007 I also have never seen the Platinum and Elite bypass that long line outside to get into the building. Tell us more....

cindep Posted September 27, 2007 #13 Share Posted September 27, 2007 The bypassing of the line in Ft. Lauderdale is really very simple. There is usually a Princess representative outside at the head of the line. You go up to them, show them your preferred boarding pass, and they direct you to the correct door. You still have to get in the line for security after you fill out your Norwalk paperwork, but it sure beats standing out in the sun!
franksandy Posted September 27, 2007 #14 Share Posted September 27, 2007 I just noticed my Platimun standing is not printed on my boarding pass, and I don't have my old card...But I did print out my number and platimun status from my princess. We have also requested a wheelchair for bording, and rented a skooter for the ship...Do we go to another special line for this? Sandy

It will say eTicket Preferred Boarding Pass.
SingerEsq Posted September 27, 2007 #16 Share Posted September 27, 2007 Does anyone know if they have this for Platinum in San Pedro? We also have a couple of Gold Members, as well as 2 first timers traveling with us .... should we take them up with us? The others won't want to feel like they're cutting in line. You will be personally escorted by a Princess rep and will bypass everyone waiting in line. The Princess rep will handle the wheelchair directly to passenger's cabin. Travel mates with passenger may also board at that time.
AZAaronBoy Posted September 27, 2007 #18 Share Posted September 27, 2007 Preferred Check-In When you arrive at the port, don’t wait in line. If you are a Platinum member, you and your family or guests will be invited to use the Preferred Check-In desk to help expedite your embarkation. ____________ It does not limit it to people in the cabin with you. San Pedro was really good about it when I was on the Diamond last Dec.

Ethel5 Posted September 27, 2007 #20 Share Posted September 27, 2007 Not All piers at FLL have the Platinum lounge. That's why at some of them you will still be waiting outside.
California Native Posted September 27, 2007 #21 Share Posted September 27, 2007 I've always used this perk... LOVE IT! Your boarding pass will indicate if you will receive preferred checkin, show it to the Princess rep... I've never waited in line for more than 3 minutes and sometimes never. Last May in CPH for the Star Princess we boarded within 5 minutes of the taxi dropping us of, and in February in SFO for the Dawn Princess, walked up, checked in, walked around the photogs and onto the ship and in our cabin within 15 minutes of arriving at the pier. We hand carried our luggage and everything was put away in another 15 minutes.... Excellent perk in my opinion!

drpack Posted September 28, 2007 #23 Share Posted September 28, 2007 Not All piers at FLL have the Platinum lounge. That's why at some of them you will still be waiting outside. Don't know about waiting outside because we usually arrive before 11:00 and have always gotten a seat inside. The waiting area is usually full by about 11:30. They hand out numbers as you arrive so the earlier you get there the lower your number. They give the same number to about 50-60 people and then they go to the next number and so on. If you're Platinum, Elite or in a Suite, you get the number 1 regardless of when you arrive. Not that much difference though once they start calling the numbers. The time between numbers being called is only a few minutes.
