ecowen Posted August 26, 2004 #1 Share Posted August 26, 2004 Be honest, after the third or fourth day of 24 hours together in a 16x12 cabin, do you ever start to get on each other's nerves? What do you do to keep from strangling each other?
Rare Cruise Junky Posted August 26, 2004 #2 Share Posted August 26, 2004 This is in no way related to your other post about dining...but when he drives me nuts is when we're at a large table and he feels he needs to be the entertainment. He always feels he has to keep the conversatin going and entertain others. I just want to have dinner with my Husband. Other than that no. We do our own thing a lot of times on a ship and a lot of things together. I think we get along best on vacation, the daily stresses aren't there. Lotsacruising Posted August 26, 2004 #3 Share Posted August 26, 2004 I have to say that after 38 cruises, leaving on 39 on saturday. We do not get on each others nerves and we do most of the things together. We spend alot of time reading and chilling on the balcony, but we do travel well together/ janet:)
ajpack Posted August 26, 2004 #4 Share Posted August 26, 2004 We're together all day every day and I can honestly say no he never gets on my nerves. On the ship he can ususally be found in the casino on sea days and I'm curled up somewhere with a book. I love sitting outside reading and watching the scenery. Randyk47 Posted August 26, 2004 #5 Share Posted August 26, 2004 My sweetie never gets on my nerves. She was one of my best friends before we got married and it's just gotten stronger over the years. A lot of folks consider us the "velcro couple" because we not only are husband and wife but we work together. Other than business trips we're pretty much 24/7 and wouldn't have it any other way. Between a serious health problem and our experiences of 9/11 in the Pentagon we really value our time together.

ILUVCRUIZN Posted August 26, 2004 #7 Share Posted August 26, 2004 My husband and I get along wonderfully well on vacation. Actually, when we get home and have to go about our normal business we miss all of the time we were able to spend together. Then we start planning our next outing. gkm Posted August 26, 2004 #9 Share Posted August 26, 2004 My husband is my best friend, and I enjoy all the times we have together. We sometimes go to different activities during the day, and when I'm ready to retire, he'll go to the casino, but that's after we've wined/dined and danced.:D Garry
sueclark Posted August 26, 2004 #10 Share Posted August 26, 2004 Taking a cruise is one of the few times we actually get to be together :) - he works out of state most of the time. Perhaps that's part of the reason we tend to get the suites .... we like the time together relaxing on the balcony with none of the everyday stresses of phones, pagers & radios! chessbriar Posted August 26, 2004 #11 Share Posted August 26, 2004 For Kathy and I, no. When we go on a cruise it's our time to bond. She works shifts and I work daylight. So our time is so pressed at home. With the stresses of work and life, we so rarely get the time to let our hair down and relax and enjoy each other. So for our 10 days on board, we enjoy spending our time together. We do just about everything together and treasure our time. Once people get to know us, they tend to tell us we are perfect for each other, two of a kind.
MSBYRDY Posted August 26, 2004 #12 Share Posted August 26, 2004 We thoroughly enjoy our time together on cruises. Ditto about being away from the everyday business stresses. We will be celebrating our 40th anniversary on the Mercury in November and can't think of a better way to do it. If we got on each others nerves that soon, I wouldn't be cruising. RodPat Posted August 26, 2004 #13 Share Posted August 26, 2004 We find life on a cruise to be just wonderful and makes us more at ease. There is time for romance and just together time. We are very busy in our lives at home and it is nice just to cruise and have time for each other. Pat
Happy ks Posted August 26, 2004 #14 Share Posted August 26, 2004 We shared a cabin last week, due to finances, never again! It was lovely to have the balcony, but we'll go back to 2 insides to spare us the agony of space confinement and one bathroom/4 ppl. DH and I are good friends, we love to do stuff together. If we do start to get on each others nerves, we know to get away from each other before it escalates into an argument. I can't stand to hear people bickering. smokie36 Posted August 26, 2004 #21 Share Posted August 26, 2004 Nerves? :confused:Of course... too much of a good thing! My hubby and I can get on each other's nerves spending too...o..o..o much time together (I think anyone would). The trick is to spend some time doing different things (apart) during the cruise. I'll be heading for the spa for a bit, he'll find something else to do... Otherwise, what would we have to tell each other about our day during dinner? We both have similar and different interests. Makes for good conversations and closer times together. We find this works well on all our vacations.:) P.S. We also got the largest room we could afford. ecowen Posted August 26, 2004 Author #23 Share Posted August 26, 2004 Just a thought.......does your spouse read these boards? ROFLMarilyn Based on the poll results so far, I think the answer is YES for a lot of folks!:D Either that, or we have discovered the most happily married group of people in the world!;) I have to admit that from time to time we definitely get on each other's nerves, on and off a cruise. One cruise it didn't happen at all, on another it was pretty constant. I suspect as we get on in years it will happen less, and like SMOKIE we've learned to plan time apart during the day to prevent overheating. No matter what, though, by martini time it's all water under the bridge, and we're best friends again.:)
Shari2 Posted August 26, 2004 #24 Share Posted August 26, 2004 My husband and I really enjoy each other's company. It is even better on a cruise, because you can forget about all the worries and stresses of everyday life. The traveling to and from the ship can be a bit stressfull at times, though, especially dealing with the luggage! :D
margaritagal Posted August 26, 2004 #25 Share Posted August 26, 2004 We cruised on the Destiny earlier this year. Cruised in January, filed for divorce in February! The cruise didn't have anything to do with it, tho......honestly! Now I'm thinking I should try cruising on my own.
