Duty free speaking, you are allowed 1 liter per person free? What is the cost for extra bottles? Thanks for any info.

 

The extra duty and taxes amount to approximately 10% above what you paid. For only a couple bottles, the customs agents will generally waive it, rather than fill out the paperwork.

St Maarten in my opinion had better prices and is where you can get the guavaberry drink (supposedly it's only mad here). If you go to St thomas, as others pointed out.. the kmart had better prices (learned this from the locals), but the selection is not all that great (mostly common brands) and you will need a taxi back to the port. we walked and our kids were pissed!

 

If you want to get tipsy for free.. In St Maarten go to the jewelers and pretend you're buying some diamonds etc. They load you up on booze samples. :cool:
