murphysmum Posted October 13, 2007 #1 Share Posted October 13, 2007 Hello... I actually posted this at the end of a long thread and will re-post for those who might be as excited as I was to see this exhibit. I just returned from a cruise which stopped in Dubrovnik and was lucky enough to be there for the opening day of "Treasures of Imperial Russia" at the Rector's Palace in the center of town. By serendipity I saw a sign, went to check it out, found out that the press were there in AM, dignitaries until 4 and "commoners" would be let in at that time. I was first in line and it was quite a lovely exhibit. Over 100 Faberge items, 9 of these the Easter eggs, were on display. These were part of the collection bought by the Russian businessman (sorry can't remember his name) from the Forbes collection and returned to Russia. I read about this several years ago, but had no idea where they were. As I've always loved these little treasures, seeing the exhibit enhanced an already lovely day. As I understand it, the exhibit will be there until November 11. If you see it, enjoy! murphysmum

SarasMommy Posted October 14, 2007 #3 Share Posted October 14, 2007 OMG, that would be amazing to see. Back in 1991, my mom purchased a Faberge egg from a very prominent jewelry store here in downtown Toronto. As a result, she and my dad were invited to a cocktail reception where they met Theo Faberge, and got his autograph. The egg she purchased has four small painted scenes depicting the four seasons, and as the seasons change she makes a point of turning the egg to reflect it. What a wonderful combination - I love Faberge eggs, and I love Dubrovnik. I'm so jealous!
