Hi Everyone! :D

I'm sorry I have not posted but we've had problems on the Explorer with internet and cell phone connections:eek: so that is why I have not been able tp post. Wireless if also having issues.

Monday was a beautiful day at sea but windy. Pool temp was only 69 this morning so needless to say, it was NOT a pool day for me! LOL! Instead we shopped on the promanade and grazed cookies! LOL! Yes, there are peanut butter cookies also on this cruise!

A bit of info about Sunday night. Our ship did turn back at 10pm to meet the Coast Guard helicopter so they could take the passenger off. The Captain did announce we lost 2 hours but will make it up and arrive in Bermuda as scheduled at 7am but he did not announce how the passenger was doing.

The Aquarium Bar was hopping tonight and we met a nice bride and her family this evening who will be getting married in Bermuda tomorrow. Tonight was the Welcome aboard party and we met the new Captain who is very nice. Waiters were also passing free drinks out on the Promanade this evening and it was a nice reception.

We received the invite for the C & A party for Diamond/plus & Platinum members that will be on Wed. 7:45, however we were invited to Portifino so we will skip that.

DH did good in the casino this evening but it was a very quiet night which surprised me as the casino is usually packed with people.

Highlights for Day 3 are

Headline show is John Christie showtime for all guests 7:45 in the Palace Theater. Love and Marriage is at 10:45,and Dancng under the Stars pool party and buffet with the pool band " Hot Sands " 11:30pm-1am. Menu is the Venetian Feast casual. Drink of the day is the Bermuda Rum Swizzle 8.25. Royal Beer is sold on the ship for those that enjoy it.

We had a cruiseship off our starboard tonight in the distance and it looked beautiful with all the lights. Warm sea breezes out on deck tonight tells us Bermuda is getting closer! We had many empty tables tonight in the main dining room at 8:30 for formal night and although the ship is at full capacity it seems like a very quiet cruise.

More from Bermuda later! :D

Back online! We had a gorgeous day in Bermuda today. We headed in to Hamilton by ferry to walk around and let Deb see the city. azamara Journey and the Empress are in Hamilton. The Journey must have been the ship I seen last night out to see as she passed us about 9am this morning to dock in Hamilton. So its RCCL day in Bermuda! LOL! :D

They are working on the new pier in Kings Wharf. This will be the last year that they allow the ships to dock in Hamilton so everyone will dock in kings wharf next year. We met several people from both ships and they were stunned over the size of the Explorer! You should have seen their faces when we told them about the skating rink and mini golf and the Promanade! LOL:D

We are docked starboard side for the first time that I've been in Bermuda so miss my view of the Dockyard a bit but the view of the other side is really just as nice. We are going to the windjammer for dinner this evening. Today at lunch they had the sugar free Napoleans! Oh yeah! Now we're talking. Last night I had the sugar free coconut cake in the dining room:D Lots of COOKIES OF COURSE! The Dockyard festival ended in Sept. so we will not see that the Reggae Beach party in the bar now is still on for tonight. We are not sure what we're doing at this point but meeting Deb for dinner at 8pm.

When we returned to the ship this afternoon we found a big plate of chocolate covered strawberries waiting for us in our cabin from the LA and also 2 blue canvas tote bags. :) That's it for now but I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy to be back online! :D

Just ask any questions and several of the Explorer Lovers can answer or I will when I'm back online.

BBL!

Suzanne, we have cabin 1612 for our January cruise. Is that where you are?

Yes, cabin has new carpet, in excellent condition, steward is good, and balcony is fine but just do not expect typical JS balcony because it's not but it's good. It would be REALLY good in colder weather as that pipe shaft in the middle helps block the wind more. But if you want the regular JS balcony try to switch cabins IF you can but if not it's really ok:D

:) Hi Suzanne, wish it was me on the Explorer, but that's not to be until October 2008. Would you find out if Steven is still working in the athletics area? He was great and cheered me on to ring the bell on the rock wall. If so, tell him Nancy & Rich say "HI" and see if he'll be there next Fall.

Thanks,

Nancy

Athletic dept? You want me to go THERE? LOL! Ok, I'll see if there is a Steven there tomorrow! Jeez, I hope they do not take one look and throw me on a treadmill to get rid of these COOKIE pounds! :D

Suzanne - are you in 1612? That will be our cabin. If so, please take pictures! As long as I can sit comfortably out on the balcony and can see the view, I'll be happy, though.

Thank you for the review. I'll be enjoying my 'virtual cruise' with you, I know!:)

Hi Suzanne,

I hope everything turns out OK for that passenger. What a crappy start to his or her vacation. I am being as good as I possibly can be on the IOS thread, so don't worry about a thing and just have a great time.

Tell Deb I said "Hi".

McPokey

Hi! :D Flames are put away so good news you are behaving! LOL! :p

I agree it was a horrible thing to happen to that poor passenger. I spoke with a bartender last night that said one person was allowed to go with the person and we believe it was a man, but the rest of the group were very upset and had to wait until we docked in Bermuda to catch flights home if that's what they wanted to do. I can only hope the passenger was ok. The Captain did eveything he could by turning the ship back very shortly after it happened to meet the Coast Guard helicopter but it took time to cover the distance needed so the helicopter could get to us. I'll also say the medical crew with security responded to the dining room immediately to the passenger and they got him/her out of there on a stretcher in about 10 minutes so I was happy to see the immediate response.

Could you tell me......How are the rooms? Have they changed the carpet lately? Are the couches stained like I have heard or do you think they have been replaced? What about the wear and tear in the bathrooms. And the general wear and tear of the ship. I just read that the carpets were replaced on the AOS and wondering if it were the same here.

As far as I could tell carpet has been replaced in cabins and its definitely new in my JS and in Deb's interior on deck 10. Our bathroom is in excellent condition and as far as I knowso is Deb's. Furniture in both are cabins is clean and looks pretty new although I do not think it is but no evidence of any stains from what I have seen on Deck 10. I can't say for sure about other cabins on other decks but the ship is very well maintained in general including all public areas. New carpets in elevators too:)

Guest Crazeecat5

Hi Suzanne,

Glad you are enjoying your cruise. Hope you can answer this question for me.

On the Disabled Cruisers board, someone asked if it is true that RCCL is now posting signs or informing guests at check in to allow handicapped people (wheel chairs, scooters, guide dogs, etc.) priority use of the elevators. Have you seen or heard anything about this?

Since I use a scooter, this would be wonderful news albeit probably not true. I am sure there are others who would like to know the answer to this question.

Thanks again for all of your work....

Sheryl

We're on the December cruise with you & your family. I have found that

scooters take 1st place for an elevator. Most (not all) will let the

scooter, wheelchair, etc. on - even when they were the last to arrive.

As a rule, we humans are pretty good about this. We might be there

someday. I do not know what is "the formal rule".

See you on 12/14. I hope we get a get together the 1st day.

Hi Lynn!!! When are you going again??? I hope all is well with you and yours!!!

We won't be going again until the summer of 2009 unfortunately. :(

Things have been going well other than being in the middle of my third bout of cellulitis in the last three months!!!!  :( The last two were VERY mild cases - this one, not so much. UGH UGH UGH My doctor has been my doctor for the last 35 years and knows I don't listen so well normally. :p BUT when I first started getting cellulitis about 7 years ago and he threatened to put me in the hospital for SIX WEEKS WITH A PIC LINE IN MY HEART - I decided to listen. So here I sit - listening!

Hope things are going well for you and yours too!!!!!
