herewego Posted October 29, 2007 #1 Share Posted October 29, 2007 I just read that the largest Mall on the Island is in Nanaimo and yet nobody has mentioned it - did anyone visit it?
tuggers Posted October 29, 2007 #2 Share Posted October 29, 2007 I guess you mean Woodgrove Mall? I think there would be more interest in it if the American dollar was stronger!:) Pretty pitiful right now.

herewego Posted October 29, 2007 Author #4 Share Posted October 29, 2007 Was the Mall worth hitting? And I don't thank Mr. Bush for anything
lola's mom Posted October 29, 2007 #5 Share Posted October 29, 2007 I would go on the excursions instead. We really liked the animal rescue center and the Cathedral Grove. And a lake that I don't remember the name of. Excellent tour guide from West Berlin! That country market with the goats on the roof ... really looks like GREAT girl-fun. Wish I could have ditched DH and gone there, too. Save your shopping for Victoria! Wa-HOO ...!
omeinv Posted October 29, 2007 #6 Share Posted October 29, 2007 There's a dollar store and the casino at the mall. It's nothing you'd go out of your way to see. Harris
selltile Posted October 29, 2007 #7 Share Posted October 29, 2007 and it's just a mall--you could be in Seattle or Atlanta or Winnipeg--plenty of other things to do and see
Mellowtraveler Posted October 29, 2007 #8 Share Posted October 29, 2007 We were on the PNW cruise in October and ducked into the Nanaimo mall to get in out of the rain. The other poster was correct. A casino, dollar store and I believe a grocery type store, a couple of fast food places. You will find much better shopping if you travel the quaint streets of Nanaimo and go to the country Market. But even then.....there is not much shopping. As far as being large......I don't think this mall was ever large. Have fun and enjoy a nice excursion. madge62 Posted October 29, 2007 #9 Share Posted October 29, 2007 Hi! The mall the OP was speaking of is Woodgrove Mall which is in north Nanaimo. It definitely is a fairly large mall and if you're interested in shopping, it has some nice stores (my daughter even works in one of them). There are probably some nicer ways to spend your day in Nanaimo though. The mall which has the casino in it is Port Place Mall, a tiny mall compared to Woodgrove, just a stone's throw from where you tender to. We're off on our PNW cruise tomorrow and since I live close to Nanaimo and work there, probably will stay on the ship!
