MommaOML Posted November 21, 2007 #1 Share Posted November 21, 2007 What are the odds that I will be able to find a flight that departs after 9 am from SAN and will let us catch a 1 pm flight out of LAX? Or, am I better off taking a bus/shuttle between SAN & LAX?
wrp96 Posted November 21, 2007 #2 Share Posted November 21, 2007 Is the 1pm flight out of LAX already booked? You have little chance of making a 1pm flight out of LAX if you get off the ship in San Diego that morning no matter what way you get to LAX. MommaOML Posted November 21, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted November 21, 2007 Flights have not been booked. I am weighing my options right now. Although, the LAX option seems to be more expensive. I was hoping it would be cheap & easy! When I retire, I'm moving closer to a port. Being land-locked sucks.
wrp96 Posted November 21, 2007 #4 Share Posted November 21, 2007 You are definitely better off booking something directly home from SAN rather than attempting to catch a flight out of LAX especially on a weekday. The freeways between San Diego and LA can be parking lots at the best of times. It would be at least a 2 hour drive in the best of traffic. I wouldn't book a flight out of San Diego before noon either.
JJPNYC Posted November 22, 2007 #5 Share Posted November 22, 2007 There are hourly flights between SAN-LAX on both American Eagle & United Express. The flight time is just about an hour. So the issue becomes if there are any flight delays between the airports. It's also worth noting that the American Eagle flights land at a satellite terminal at LAX which requires a forced bus transfer to the main American Terminal, Terminal 5. This can upward of 20 minutes to any transfer time.
