G'day all

Just a couple of links to some cool stuff - animated wave height displays for our region

For heights in feet, go here http://www.globalsurfers.com/wave-forecast.cfm

South-West Pacific, 7 day animation

For heights in metres, go here http://www.stormsurf.com/page2/links/pacnewww3.html

Click on "ANIMATION/Height" at top of page.

I'm going on Pacific Sun next Saturday - 10 days to (mainly) Vanuatu. It's looking good so far!!:D My wife will be pleased!!:o

PS I'm glad that I am not going on an Alaskan cruise right now

Barry,

Cool site, though I find these ones much easier to view

South Pacific swell animation - https://www.fnmoc.navy.mil/ww3_cgi/cgi-bin/ww3_loop.cgi?color=b&area=spac&prod=swl_wav_ht

Overall page with links to all areas of the globe, and peak waves, whitecap probability - https://www.fnmoc.navy.mil/ww3_cgi/index.html

Love it so much, it is in linked from my signature too.

Cheers

This is really a bit of a psychological exercise :D- a bit like being pregnant these days. In times gone past, one didn't know the sex of the soon to be born infant - but today, with all the technology, one has the ability to find out before the birth! But the question is - do we avail ourselves of this information??:D

The same thing goes for this wave height info -- do I really want to know that the wave heights predicted for my day of departure are 10 metres!!! or perhaps it will be as flat as a pancake :p Or do I just ignore the website and go along and accept what I get?? Well, I guess that is going to happen anyway - because I am going on the cruise regardless!!:D

I hope that the revelation of this information doesn't spoil other people's cruises - as for me, I can't help myself, human knowledge cannot be kept form the light of day. I will be watching the seasickness indicator like a hawk until the minute I leave home!!:o
