49er Posted December 9, 2007 #1 Share Posted December 9, 2007 I know this subject has been on the CC boards before but next year we will be flying on United from Chicago to Munich then transferring to Lufthansa for our flight to Barcelona. Scheduled layover is less then 1 1/2 hours which I hope is enough time to make our connection. If anyone has made this journey through Munich Airport, your comments/suggestions would be appreciated 49er
KINGBOBOFTHENORTH Posted December 9, 2007 #2 Share Posted December 9, 2007 That is a valid connection for Munich. Assuming both legs of the flight were booked together as one ticket, airline computers (including travel agencies that use them) cant issue a ticket that doesn't meet an airport's minimums. Should your originating flight arrive too late to make the connection, the Lufthansa Transfer Desk at Munich will arrange to put you on a later flight. Fuzzy55 Posted December 10, 2007 #3 Share Posted December 10, 2007 We had connections with United to Lufthansa thru Munich in November. No problems at all. You don't change terminals for your connections. Loved the Munich airport--lots of ATM machines to get Euros. I think we had 1 1/2 hour connection for both flights from Munich to Barcelona and the return. Had time to get rid of the remianing euros at one of the shops there. You will have another security checkpoint right at the gate when you flight out of Munich to the US, but it was just more questions.
ljrfrm Posted December 10, 2007 #4 Share Posted December 10, 2007 We have done United/Lufthansa through Munich many times. The Munich airport is an easy one and that connection should be fine - unless you arrive very late from Chicago. It's definitely a very do-able connection though. 49er Posted December 10, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted December 10, 2007 Thank you all for your quick replies. The flight(s) were booked through United so from your comments, it looks like we should be OK. Thanks again 49er
ljrfrm Posted December 11, 2007 #6 Share Posted December 11, 2007 One last point - because you are booked through United, if your plane does happen to arrive late - you should be fine. There are usually flights every few hours so you would be put on the next flight - which probably wouldn't be too long of a wait.
