nylawman Posted December 15, 2007 #1 Share Posted December 15, 2007 We have a VE balcony cabin on the veranda deck. It appears that when you look down from the balcony that you are looking at the top of one of the life boats. Has anyone stayed in a VE balcony cabin? And how is the view? Do the lifeboats affect it? Thank you.
InTheWASide Posted December 15, 2007 #2 Share Posted December 15, 2007 The only thing you CAN'T do is look straight down... This may be a disadvantage on a Panama crossing, but for anything else isn't a very big deal... Balconies are a little SMALLER, but you're also midship... So there are pros and cons

Thank you. We were on the Noordam, in a VF (5127), right next to the first VE, on the Veranda deck. The room and view were both great. You could see the top of the lifeboats, but it sure didn't take away from the view one bit. And, it was fun watching the day they took them all down and sailed around in them for a bit (a drill, I believe). Great location, too.
Big Al B. Posted December 16, 2007 #4 Share Posted December 16, 2007 I can mirror the previous postings. We were in a VE on the Noordam in October. As mentioned, if you look straight down you are gazing at the lifeboats and maybe some of the teak decking below. If they are smaller, it didn't seem to be enough to detract from anything. (We didn't have any parties on it :p). We booked another VE on the transatlantic Eurodam next August.
