Lunch options on Crane Beach

I will be stopping in Barbados is February and I plan on using this port as a beach day. I know about all the superlatives when it comes to Crane Beach, but I was concerned with paying through the nose when it comes to lunch if the only option is the Crane Beach Hotel.

My wife are looking to sample Bajan fare, rotis or something of that nature. We would rather not have an upscale lunch.

If our options are limited on Crane which other beach would recommend?

I am leaning more towards the south coast as opposed to the west coast, as we also want some wave action (but nothing ridiculous :) ).

Thanks in advance.

You CAN have your roti lunch ON Crane Beach

if you'll pick them up first from wherever

(sounds like you'd know just where!)

and then continue on, up to The Crane

where you might find the old BOXILL'S ROAD

that will lead you down to the far end of The Crane beach.

It's a bit dodgy/rocky accessing it at the Northern end instead

but since you're only 44 it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Even if you find the rocks down at the end of Boxill's to be too much

just hit the very similar beach to the left of Boxill's Road

(Crane Beach proper is to the right of 'the sea end' of Boxill's)

Same beach conditions...in fact I somewhat prefer that other beach.

Get GOOGLE EARTH and go have a look.

Following is a link to the lunch menu at L'Azure restautant at the Crane.

I know it seems high, but for the setting and the food, it isn't.

If you want a smaller lunch tarrif plus a great side trip, the Sunbury Plantation House is only about 15 minutes NW of the Crane. Their lunch is a buffet and does offer flying fish and a number of other foods common to Barbados, but I can't remember if roti is one of them. It is about US$30/pp.

Have a great visit! :)
