Discover Atlantis & Historical Harbor Cruise...????

We already signed up for this shore excursion and was wondering if we should get a refund and do it differently??? Is there anything else to see on this island or is Atlantis the place to be the whole day? How far away is everything for walking distance and to get a little bit of shopping in? We are in Nassau from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Are there plenty of cabs for everybody or is there a waiting period to get one? Can ya tell I'm nervous!!! :eek:

I'd cancel the tour and take the $3 ferry over to Atlantis. (you'll get the historic tour of the harbour for free) It's about a 5 minute walk to the Marina Village from the Ferry drop off point. Then onto the Coral tower entrance.

 

You can check out the lobbies, casino, Free section of the Aquarium at the Great Hall of waters Cafe and shopping at Atlantis.. and then take a cab back when you are ready.. They are readily available at all exits.

 

Save your $$ and grab some authentic bahamian snacks downtown.

 

Keep in mind that most shopping (not just straw market) is less expensive downtown for the same exact items, and you don't pay the 15% gratuities that Atlantis tacks on as well.

Thanks so much for giving me a peace of mind :) I went ahead and cancelled and am more excited to be able to do more exploring on our own. My husband will probably be just as happy just seeing the free sides of the aqaurium. So after we explore Atlantis, do we just ask the cab driver to take us downtown for shopping? I'm not sure how the island is laid out, probably should look at a map :)
