Muushka Posted January 11, 2008 #2 Share Posted January 11, 2008 This past Dec we tendered at Tortola.
Coco Creek Posted January 11, 2008 #3 Share Posted January 11, 2008 We tendered, but two other ships docked. I guess it is luck of the draw.

Happy Cruiser 6143 Posted January 13, 2008 #5 Share Posted January 13, 2008 We're on the Feb 3 sailing and it shows we will be docked on the itinerary. There are 5 ships scheduled to be in Tortola that day (YIKES!), but we're the first one scheduled to arrive, so assume that means we will get of the two dock spaces. CrabbyHarper Posted January 13, 2008 #6 Share Posted January 13, 2008 Happy: We're on the Feb 3 cruise with you and we don't assume anything! We are going to roll with the punch (sic)! I think Tortola will be a zoo, so we may just kick back and relax. See you soon.
Cruising Bill Posted January 13, 2008 #7 Share Posted January 13, 2008 I just returned today--this cruise the Millennium docked in Tortola (along with I think one other), and one (Westerdam) was tendered.

Cruising Bill Posted January 14, 2008 #9 Share Posted January 14, 2008 The cruise was fantastic! I am pretty swamped catching up at work, but will check back here if I can answer any questions--I know one guy I met on board said he will be posting a review. Feel free to post questions here and I will try to answer
spotgrey Posted January 14, 2008 #10 Share Posted January 14, 2008 Just returned yesterday from cruise (eastern caribbean) on Millennium...We docked in Tortola. I hope your cruise is better than ours...Celebrity has gone down so much since our last Celebrity cruise two years ago we will not sail with them again. Took us two hours to board the ship in Ft. Lauderdale We had a terrible stateroom attendant in concerige class, no customer service at guest relations, TV didn't work in stateroom most of the time. One day they only had two kinds of ice cream (ran out), no bowls nor spoons for ice cream. Room carpet & furniture very worn. To many problems to list them all. Hope your cruise goes much better than ours did...
Caesar Posted January 14, 2008 #11 Share Posted January 14, 2008 Spotgrey - I was sorry to read that your cruise was not up to Celebrity standard. We are on the same cruise in February, and also in CC class. Can you share what cabin you were in, so hopefully, we will not get the same room steward. If you could expand on your experience, it would be appreciated.
Cruising Bill Posted January 14, 2008 #12 Share Posted January 14, 2008 I would agree that the embarkation process was chaotic at best. On the other hand, I found all of the public areas to be in great shape, the food was excellent in almost all aspects. I had ice cream in the afternoon a few different times, and there were always several selections (Cinnamon is incredible). We were in concierge class on 7 in an aft cabin, and had Gaston as our stateroom attendant. He did a great job, with a few attentive touches that were excellent. Pool hogs were a little bit of a pain, but since I travel with an early bird it was easy to sit where we wanted at the pool. We did watch CNN for the New Hampshire primary results Tuesday night, but Wednesday morning CNN was out. I will try to write a more detailed review later in the week. spotgrey Posted January 14, 2008 #13 Share Posted January 14, 2008 Hopefully your cruise will be much better...The 3 prior cruises we have taken with Celebrity were fine but I expect them all to be since we paid a lot for the cruise. Some of the other problems were: --Room (8098) was never cool enough for us even though the thermostat was on high cool and door to balcony closed. --Refrigerator did not keep drinks cool, we had to put drinks in ice when we could get it. --Hair dryer under sink in bathroom did not work --I needed a sewing kit which was supposed to be in concerige suite but wasn't. Stateroom attendant told me he didn't have one. I insisted and he finally brought me one. Also no mouthwash or breath mints in room --Stateroom attendant took our room service book (big blue book) out of stateroom on Friday. I asked him about it and he said he had to get it ready for the next cruise. I again insisted on a menu for room service menu. He finally brought me a menu after he told me to use the TV (not the same as concerige menu in room) but of course the TV wasn't working for the room service portion. I finally ordered a BLT Sandwich from room service (figured they had that) until he brought me another book which had the menu but never saw the "room service" book again. --The last Celebrity today contained an evaluation questionaire which my DH tossed by accident...I went to Guest Relations to get another but was told I couldn't get a "blank" questionaire form until her supervisor came on duty after 5PM they couldn't give them out...ALL I WANTED WAS ANOTHER BLANK FORM!!..I went back after 5PM and got another form and DID complete it. The straw that broke the camel's back was when I went down to Guest Relations on Friday evening asking for credit on my gratuities which I put on my credit card (I rather do cash envelops) and was told by purser that was "impossible" to give credits back..A lesson learned I will never put on cc again always give cash directly to people who deserve it. Small but irritating thing happened in the Casino. My DH won a jackpot which included a T Shirt. He was given a Medium and asked for a Large or X Large. Was told "only" T shirts they had was Medium.... I'M SURE YOUR CRUISE WILL BE MUCH BETTER SINCE CELEBRITY HAS ALWAYS BEEN GOOD BEFORE...WE JUST HAPPENED TO GET A BAD ONE!! quiltstitcher Posted January 15, 2008 #14 Share Posted January 15, 2008 Wow, we must have been neighbors, Gaston was our attendant as well. We were in 7187! Glad to hear you enjoyed it.!
Cruising Bill Posted January 15, 2008 #15 Share Posted January 15, 2008 Yes--I was at the end of the hall in an aft cabin, so about five or six doors down from you!

I think Tortola will be a zoo, so we may just kick back and relax. See you soon. I'm really disappointed about the number of ships in Tortola at one time. Seems to me they could schedule that better. It looks like a nice port to just walk around in. We hope to grab a cab up to Sage Mountain, are counting on being first in. If that works out and we get back to Road Town and it's a zoo, then it's back to the ship. I don't do crowds well. Maybe everyone will go to the Baths! I may be the only one who feels this way, but this is not a nice port to walk around in. The sidewalks are the worst planned I have ever seen. Very dangerous (as far as uneven and having to walk in the street because the sidewalk just ended for some strange reason). If I ever go back I will either do the Baths or stay on the ship. zamgwar Posted January 17, 2008 #18 Share Posted January 17, 2008 Hi and welcome Back, I'm curious if anyone in your group had a hot stone massage. LOL, my wife ALWAYS asks me to try and find which massage gives the best on as she gets one every time. Our gang has a number of CC's surrounding 7187 so glad to hear about gaston!!!
