Whitewings2 Posted January 13, 2008 #1 Share Posted January 13, 2008 Has anyone rented car in the ports of Villefranche or Livorno? Also, does anyone know if there are taxis or short tours available at the following ports: Valetta, Naples, Civitavecchia, Livorno or Villefranche. I understand it's safer to go on the ship's tours, but have never had any problems in the past. I'd appreciate your help if yo've been to any of these ports. sharke Posted January 18, 2008 #2 Share Posted January 18, 2008 Sounds like you have a lot of the same ports we had several years ago. In Citavecchia and in Florence we used www.driverinrome.com They were fantastic. Both father, Remo, and son, Daniele give great tours, very knowledgeable, great fun and reliable driving. We liked them so much for Rome the father met us in Livorno for our tour of Pisa and Florence. In Naples we used Sorrento Limo and toured Pompeii, Amalfi coast, Positano, ate at a lovely small family winery - a great day. The train in Villefranche comes very close to where you will tender in. It's quite easy and convenient. We hopped the train to Village of Eze where we spent the morning. When the train drops you at the bottom of the hill pay the woman in the small shop one euro. She will call a taxi for you to take you to the top of the hill. There is a shuttle but it is crowded and very slow. After walking around Eze all morning we took the train into Monte Carlo for the afternoon. Easy walking city/country - toured the castle, walked with the rich, ate, viewed the casino and hopped the train back in time to board. Have a great time.
