petrellad Posted January 18, 2008 #1 Share Posted January 18, 2008 Is it possible to book a 7 day cruise but disembark after the 3rd or 4th day because you want to spend a week on one of the ports the ship is stopping at? Can I only pay for the 3 days if this is the agreement? How would this work?
dkjretired Posted January 18, 2008 #2 Share Posted January 18, 2008 You have to check with the cruise line as to their policies and those of the various governments involved for a particular cruise. No one can really answer the question for you on this board until you know what your itinerary is for the entire cruise.
paul929207 Posted January 18, 2008 #3 Share Posted January 18, 2008 I agree check with the cruise line. No one here is an expert on all the different laws applying to this. I would not count on getting a discount for a partial cruise.
cb at sea Posted January 18, 2008 #4 Share Posted January 18, 2008 You'll still have to pay for the entire trip--this is a cruise--not a bus! So, why not just fly to whatever place you want to stay for a week?!

kitty9 Posted January 19, 2008 #6 Share Posted January 19, 2008 You can't if you're in violation of the Passenger's Services Act. According to that law, if a cruise starts in a US port, you must first visit a distant foreign port. Cruise lines don't allow partial bookings and you must pay the full fare. Ships aren't in the Greyhound bus business and they aren't to be used just to transport you to an island. Like others have said, why not just fly to the island you want to visit? You could check into EasyCruise. It's a bare bones cruise line that is basically a ferry service. You pay for everything once you're on board as nothing, not even the foodl, is included. They do not cruise to the US, so the PSA isn't an issue with them.
