JosieJeangirl Posted January 21, 2008 #1 Share Posted January 21, 2008 Hello Everyone! We are sailing to the Panama Canal on the Feb.6 Island Princess. We've never been to the Caribbean. Dumb question maybe but: Do we just plan on using credit cards in Guatemala, Costa Rica, Columbia, etc? Can we use US money for lunches, drinks, etc? Princess will probably announce all this on the ship prior to port calls.....but I've been on the Island before and this wasn't always done. Thanks for all you help! Happy Cruising! Krazy Kruizers Posted January 21, 2008 #2 Share Posted January 21, 2008 Have been to all those ports numerous times. We use credit cards for large items. For smaller trinkets -- we always have lots of ones and fives. Remember that those countries will give you back change in their local currency. paul929207 Posted January 21, 2008 #4 Share Posted January 21, 2008 The US$ is widely accepted in these ports of call. As mentioned be sure to have lots of small bills. Many vendors will give change in local currency, so the closer you can get to the exact price the better.
