zantedeschia Posted January 30, 2008 Author #101 Share Posted January 30, 2008 Okay, fixed. Two files were misspelled and the rest were ones that got overlooked when I transferred the files over. Do let me know if there are any other links that don't work. PS: the End of the Internet message is an old Zork spoof. ;)
zantedeschia Posted January 30, 2008 Author #102 Share Posted January 30, 2008 At the entrance, there was a topiary shaped like the Magician's temple: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/topiary.jpg Forgot to mention the merchants there only took cash, but there was an ATM. Starting the tour, you are greeted with the very impressive Temple of the Magician: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/magician.jpg http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/magician2.jpg We crossed this ruin to the right of the Temple: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/ruin.jpg This is the opposite side of the Temple: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/otherside.jpg Some indiginous wildlife: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/indiginous.jpg http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/indiginous2.jpg More of the buildings by the Temple: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/ruin2.jpg Jonathan used the zoom to pick up detail from the structures: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/detail.jpg http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/detail2.jpg http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/detail3.jpg http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/detail4.jpg http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/detail5.jpg The courtyard on the other side of the Temple: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/courtyard.jpg A view of the ball court and the terracing from one of the ruins: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/tunnel.jpg You can see the terracing in these photos: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/ruin3.jpg http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/terracing.jpg http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/terracing2.jpg The ball court where they played their games. The ring on the right side is a fiberglass reconstruction: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/ballcourt.jpg Can never take enough pictures of the splendid Temple of the Magician: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/magician3.jpg This was in the last section of the tour. We could explore a lot of the buildings, just not the big Temple: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/ruin4.jpg Shot taken from the above ruin: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/ruin4a.jpg Alex climbs a tree: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/alex-tree.jpg A really huge bougainvillea: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/bougainvillea.jpg I believe this is the one we walked through to get to the ball court: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/ruin5.jpg
zantedeschia Posted January 30, 2008 Author #103 Share Posted January 30, 2008 The morning we came in, it was hazy: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/hazy.jpg We are 2 miles up and it's still so shallow, Voyager is kicking up sand from the bottom: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/shallow.jpg Pier isn't anything exciting to look at. Took this while Voyager was turning. You can see the tourbuses in the parking lot behind the market. Note the people in white sitting and waiting for us to arrive: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/pier.jpg Alex is with me, watching us dock: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/alex-prog.jpg We arrive: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/pier2.jpg The people go into entertainment mode: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/pier3.jpg The buses: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/tourbuses.jpg This picture of the causeway was taken later in the day after the haze had lifted: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/causeway.jpg I think those blocks are meant to be a seawall. You can see how narrow the causeway it. When we were driving down it in the bus, it didn't look wide enough for 2 vehicles to pass, but you can see there's ample room: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/seawall.jpg Uxmal is on a hill, giving a good view of the terrain, which looks like desert and/or grasslands: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/landscape.jpg http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/landscape2.jpg http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/landscape3.jpg http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/landscape4.jpg Some shots around the rest stop: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/reststop.jpg http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/reststop2.jpg http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/reststop3.jpg Alex befriending the dogs which were thin and skittish: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/mangydogs.jpg Voyager at the pier in Progresso. In the Pink Posted January 31, 2008 #105 Share Posted January 31, 2008 Sorry your not a Marla:D Oh, you're bad! LOL One of the staff members who was helping the Cruise Director at our M&M on this cuise was named Marla. Every time he'd say something to her, I'd turn around. LOL It's just sooooo unusual to be in the same room with another Marla.
Echo Queen Posted January 31, 2008 #106 Share Posted January 31, 2008 Oh, you're bad! LOL One of the staff members who was helping the Cruise Director at our M&M on this cuise was named Marla. Every time he'd say something to her, I'd turn around. LOL It's just sooooo unusual to be in the same room with another Marla. This is so true, I have run across just a handful of Marla's. I met a little girl named Starla and said that I was going to name my first daughter Starla, I have to boys;) I could go on and on about life as Marla, Marla Marla Marla. hahahahah But Mary, Sue, Jennifer, Jessica, Kathy's..........might get bored.hahahahh Have a great day. AudioFilly Posted January 31, 2008 #107 Share Posted January 31, 2008 Okay, fixed. Two files were misspelled and the rest were ones that got overlooked when I transferred the files over. Do let me know if there are any other links that don't work. PS: the End of the Internet message is an old Zork spoof. ;) Oh man, I miss Zork. It was what first hooked me on getting a computer. We were so proud of our first PC. If I am remembering right it had a 20MB hard drive and we thought we'd never get close to filling it up. Thanks for another great review, Z. I'm still hoping that one of these days we'll end up on a cruise together. I'm off to look at all of your great pics now.
Rockiesfan Posted January 31, 2008 #108 Share Posted January 31, 2008 PS: the End of the Internet message is an old Zork spoof. ;) I LOVED that game! I've never been a video game player but I used to play Zork in college while taking a break from typing term papers for $$$ . . . somewhere I even have an old 3" disk with my saved game on it. Thanks for the review and pictures, Z! I loved all the details. My seven-year-old thinks Progresso looks like a pink zebra. Only seven weeks to go for me! zantedeschia Posted January 31, 2008 Author #109 Share Posted January 31, 2008 Thanks for another great review, Z. I'm still hoping that one of these days we'll end up on a cruise together. There's still a chance! I'm probably going to book the Mar 30 cruise on Voyager. A few more pictures to post, the ones from the water camera used in Cozumel. zantedeschia Posted February 1, 2008 Author #110 Share Posted February 1, 2008 You can see how small the pier is. One of the Costa tenders is there, a second tender spot is on the opposite side of the triangle. http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/pier.jpg Whoops, overwrote a file. I renamed this one: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/pier-roa.jpg
bobert Posted February 1, 2008 #111 Share Posted February 1, 2008 Thanks for all your effort. I came across this thread last night and I read it until I couldn't stay awake. It brought back lots of good Voyager memories.
thekatmi Posted February 7, 2008 #112 Share Posted February 7, 2008 Z- Thanks for all your efforts. :) We are leaving on 2/24/08 cruise, and I and many of the folks we are cruising with have been enjoying the review, the compass and other papers, as well as the pictures. This has made me all the more hyped up! Question regarding the "urinal" pic that Jon had to go find... Care to share more info? I had gone the website to print out some more compass pages, saw the pics (without your helpful descriptions in the message board here) and was curious when I saw this title. Then I started reading your descripion here in board.. Now I am just wondering, where was this? -K
zantedeschia Posted February 11, 2008 Author #113 Share Posted February 11, 2008 Question regarding the "urinal" pic that Jon had to go find... Care to share more info? I had gone the website to print out some more compass pages, saw the pics (without your helpful descriptions in the message board here) and was curious when I saw this title. Then I started reading your descripion here in board.. Now I am just wondering, where was this? -K I missed your reply, sorry about that. The urinal that looks like a fountain has been mentioned several times on threads here and being a girl, it's something I normally wouldn't be able to see (tho I understand women braver than I have ventured into the men's restroom). Jonathan says it's in the bathroom on Deck 11 by the floral shop by the Windjammer. I wonder if he would have known what it was if I hadn't told him, but he said it was pretty obvious, as the water turns on when one walks up to it. zantedeschia Posted February 11, 2008 Author #114 Share Posted February 11, 2008 On the menu where I didn't write down what entree I had, it was the cheese canneloni and it was very good. Wasn't going to post this last batch of pictures as they're the ones from the disposable camera and the quality isn't as good as the others, but what the hey. Here they are, the ones from Cozumel. Boarding the Fury was easy, it came up right next to where the Royal ships dock: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/boarding.jpg Some fish we saw: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/fish.jpg Fury with her sail up: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/fury-sail.jpg Fury from a snorkeler's perspective. You can see Voyager and Radiance in the distance: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/fury-water.jpg Jonathan posed when I took his picture... http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/jon-fury.jpg So I took another when he wasn't looking: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/jon-fury2.jpg OMG! That's me in the tiedye! (Alex sitting next to me) http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/tiedye.jpg Voyager as taken from the Fury: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/voy-fury.jpg The waverunner - Jonathan slipped off shortly after and Alex went alone and then brought it back for Jonathan to take a spin: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/waverunner.jpg Finally, since I've been camera shy, here's one Jonathan took of me on the bus to Uxmal: http://www.taronga.com/~arielle/cruise/voyager/pics/meonthebus.jpg
