Amtrak from LA to SD?

We are planning on taking the Amtrak from Fullerton to San Diego for our spring cruise. Was wondering how close the train station is to the port? Will we need to get a taxi, take a city bus, or walk to the port from the train station? Anyone done this before?

I used to live in SD and take this train, however it was 10 years ago and I can't quite remember the exact location, but I do know the amtrak station was RIGHT by harbor drive. It's probably only a couple of dollars by taxi, or a short walk, if you're lucky.

By the way, the train ride from LA is gorgeous. As I remember, there was one car where you can sit facing the ocean for a large portion of the trip.

Amtrak station in San Diego is maybe a 1/2 block north, and across the street from the cruise terminal. Easily walkable, though if you have alot of luggage you may have to make more than one trip, (wheeled luggage would REALLY come in handy ;) ).

VERY easy and convenient!
