Bobug Posted March 12, 2008 #77 Share Posted March 12, 2008 I was in aft cabin 7448 and we didn't have a fridge...or maybe we did and didn't know it. :) LOL....that's funny....on our cruise last year on the Sun my dad thought the safe was a microwave the whole 10 days :) You would have thought that was his first cruise (not) but unfortunatley it was his last as he died unexpectedly 2 months later at 66 yrs old :( ....we have great memories from that trip. Jilltoons Posted March 12, 2008 #78 Share Posted March 12, 2008 I loved my cabin 8254 - great location. Love the Shrimp Mania machine in the casino - Please please please say hi to Emeline in the Casino from Jill - she was so wonderful! She told my husband and me that her goal is to really get to know 25 guests per cruise. She gave us a wonderful bag of goodies from the casino on our last day. She always made me feel special. Absolutely loved Dwight in the Lindy Hop - Piano bar. So much fun - got people involved. Made me laugh again and again! Check out the "break-dancers" from the 80's show on Friday night - they will also do a special performance in the Atruim area after the show. They are absolutely incredible!!!! Saturday morning at 9:00am at gift shop - $5.00 T-shirt morning, also great buys on other items (got a wonderful beach towell for $6.00). I am sure I will think of more. I loved my first cruise! I couldn't have wished for a better ship. I would go back to the Valor next year if I could for the Western side this time.
People_Mover Posted March 12, 2008 #79 Share Posted March 12, 2008 is there a secret door on Valor? What is the separate restaurant you can pay extra for different food? We are sailing on her in June :)

Great story! Sorry about your Dad. When my Mom was first learning how to use a phone to make calls away from home, she she did a classic. She pressed in the card number, and then the number she wanted to call, when the recording said "Thank you for using ATT&T", she said "your welcome and hung up. Problem was, she did not let the call connect. :D

cruisinwithinlaws Posted March 12, 2008 #82 Share Posted March 12, 2008 Wow!! Thanks! I leave in July on the Valor and now I am more excited than ever!! The only difference is I have to take the kids with. The 18 year old refuses to stay behind and watch the 8 year old, so i guess they both have to go. That boy sure is getting smart! MAO Posted March 12, 2008 Author #83 Share Posted March 12, 2008 Too funny about the safe being a microwave:D I can see myself mixing that up if I'm plastered....Then again finding the right cabin is a difficult task when one has indulged alittle too much. So no-one has had one of those rooms? I wonder if they are bigger:confused: It would be nice to have something alittle differant in the way of cabin set up. I can't wait to check out the piano bar, I like how they have it set up so each bar is in the same area, that way we can bar hop with out walking too far;)
MAO Posted March 23, 2008 Author #84 Share Posted March 23, 2008 10 months is far too long to wait to board this tremendous ship, I have to keep looking at pictures, gathering info and researching. Anyone else in the same predicament? How do you pass the time. Wonder if there are any secret places not to be missed on this ship? Would love to see more pics from previous cruisers, and their experiances.

MzOhioLady Posted March 23, 2008 #86 Share Posted March 23, 2008 Thanks MAO for finding this page and bringing it to the forefront. I have just a lil bit under 6 months before I get on board. The time is barely creeping by and I'm so ready for some fun in the sun. The snow is for the birds. I'm like you, I keep reading this board and looking for pics. I hope those who are getting off her today will write some reviews and include pics so I can fantasize about being onboard.

MAO Posted March 23, 2008 Author #88 Share Posted March 23, 2008 MzOhioLady, what is your fondest memory from when you sailed on the Valor in '05? What was your favorite part of the cruise? It is an obsession isn't it? Looking and waiting , reading and waiting, panning and waiting! I guess thats part of the fun but.....wish we could just sail when we get the urge to;) Bobug thanks for contributing:) Randus62, I definately know what you mean, now we can fantasize about the sailing , during the summer we get by ok but it becomes pure torture when the weather turns lousy again! Some of my fondest memories about sailing are with the crew. i think it makes such a differance when they are interactive and fun. Our very first room steward was the best ever and made us feel like we were his only customers. Our waitress in April on the Triumph was always so happy to serve us and seemed truely sad to say goodbye, we all loved her.

MAO Posted March 23, 2008 Author #90 Share Posted March 23, 2008 We leave on the Valor Jan. 18th, not soon enough if you ask me! I'm looking forward to being on Carnival again, the last cruise was Royal and although they have their strong points Carnival seems to be winning out. Food, entrtainment and company. Who knows and I guess it just all depends! Haven't done a b2b but someday we might take a longer than 7 day. My DH will not cruise so i go with his sister. We always have a blast, she makes me laugh and we have alot of the same tastes.

I go May 25th on the Valor (Western)...cannot wait!!! Panning these boards has become an obsession for me too...not quite sure how to break myself of it and want to schedule another soon after; hub says no cause we have to replace the roof this summer...:(

I bet it is alot of fun with your SIL....my hubby loves cruising but he doesn't start getting excited until about a month before sailing whereas I am already on the boards 10 months away...actually longer because I have been on regular now for a month. When I don't have a cruise booked I'm not here as often but I still check in. We go with a group of his family from Michigan...we're from Ga. There was 83 of us last Feb. We go every other year but we have thrown in a couple of graduation cruises in between.
