All things Valor

Sorry but I must respond. Especially as a Vet, and someone who has been around the world. When you go to someone's country they tend to tout the great things they have done. This is pride, and justified. I understand it in Italy, Germany, England, GB, even Canada. Where I am going with this is this ship was intended as a celebration of Valor, and American Valor. Sorry if it flys in your face or anyone does not like it. The thing is this: The ship leaves from America, is advertised as the Valor, no other excuses are necessary. You have 21 other ships in the fleet (soon to be 22) but Many may not like my tone. Sorry. I have lost many friends who have defended freedom around the world, in peace and in war, and I am not going to hide my patriotism

And that would make a lot of sense if they were consistent about the theme. There seem to be TWO different themes going on. One is Americana and one is the concept of heroism/valor. Now, they certainly do intersect in a lot of areas, but there are plenty of thematic elements that have NOTHING to do with America.

Ivanhoe Show Lounge (Ivanhoe = middle English literature)

Winston's cigar bar (Winston Churchill = English)

Shogun Club Casino (Shogun = Japanese)

Paris Hot Jazz Club (Paris = France

Iliad Library (Iliad = ancient Greek literature)

I would celebrate a ship that is designed to celebrate America and Americana. This one, though, seems to be a bit all over the place...

All very valid points.

Ya know what I wish they had on the ships?... A way to play cds or tapes while getting ready for dinner or while relaxing on the balcony.

I always have found the TV channels very limitted:rolleyes:

Some new reviews out there. Anyone have anything they want to add here?

I have never read such a great review. It was so well written. Than you for sharing with us.

I book my family on the Valor for Christmas and New Years in Dec and we simply can not wait.

I would love for our family to be on the vets cruise, but hubby will be in Iraq by then.

To the person who said the Valor was to American. So very sad thing to say.

Thanks again for the review.

we are also going on the valor, doing the eastern caribbean over new years. haven't seen anything on the roll call yet?

Anyone with new re-views? Anyone that might have new pics or suggestions?

Seems Valor doesn't get the attention the other ships get, will we be dissapointed?

Would love to hear a new story like desperatehousewives:) :D

There are quite a few new reviews on the Member reviews...not as in depth as the one here but maybe enough to get you through :)

We 121 days to go for our 7 day b2b on the ship & we are very excited.

While looking at some pictures of Valor cabins on another cruise website, I noticed that there were "outside family staterooms" that had windows that were floor to ceiling, but in another photo of an "outside stateroom", the windows were of normal size. (I guess around 3' x 4'?)

Does anybody know what the catagory difference is between these 2 staterooms? Is the floor to ceiling picture from a balcony stateroom? The description just said "outside family stateroom"

Thanks!

Kurt

Sailed Valor December 07 and had a great time every night at Jeanne's Wine Bar (I think that's what it's called) where they had a different $5 martini every night. Always met nice people there, and the bartender was great! Can't remember her name, she was Philippina (like me!). Does anybody know if this martini special is still running?

What happened to your wedding recap? I was really looking forward to those pics. :(

My DH and I are sailing on the Valor in Jan 09. I can't wait!!

has anyone stayed in the extended aft balconies in the valor? i have cabin 8457 sailing in february, and i have never had the aft before, im sort of nervous as i hear mixed reviews of these rooms. mostly good, but some say the movement can be bad as well as no shade......im not really worried about the shade since im looking to get a nice tan! but the movement makes me nervous........any input would be appreciated!

Cruised the Valor last Feb to Grand Cayman, Roatan Island Honduras, Belize and Cozumel. Loved the Ship! Tile mosaic of Rosie the Riveter was awesome, my home away from home (cabin) was the Lindy Hop piano bar, and thought the Josephine Baker theme of Paris Hot was great!

Here are my pics:

YOU WILL LOVE THE VALOR!!!!
