Hi everyone,

I'm relatively new to this site and I'm having a little newbie-trouble navigating the forum. :o Where can I find pictures that people have taken of the Paul Gauguin cruise ship and the Tahitian Princess cruise ship?

Thank you for your help, it is much appreciated!

Hi Erica:)

I answered one of your posts on Trip Advisor, nice to see you here:D

If you have a look across the top of this page you will see Photo Gallery, I think if you search there you may find some pictures, but I am sure once some CCers that have cruised on the ships you mention see this post, they will post you their links:p

Good luck for your travel plans,

Chez

Hi Chez!

Yes, there you are! I finally subscribed and I'm now trying to figure out how to navigate the boards!

Thanks for your quick reply...I'm going to go try and click around and see what I can find. Or like you said, hopefully people will reply and be gracious enough to share their pictures with me.

Thanks again!

I had been following your quest on TripAdvisor also, but hadn't signed in. So, have you decided on Tahiti/Cruise over Fiji:D Tough decision. The link below has pics from our trip in Nov. '06. We are returning in August, but this time will be doing the Star Flyer with a pre & post cruise stay. I think you would enjoy either the PG or the TP for your first trip.....a balcony would be nice...especially since it's your honeymoon. The opportunity to sail around the islands on a clipper ship was just too hard to pass on this trip though. Will be giving up some ammenities, but I think it will be worth it.

Hi Mike!!

I think its funny that you were following me on my "honeymoon quest" on TripAdvisor....I think some people were getting quite annoyed at my many questions! :o Its such a hard decision...but I think we both had our hearts set on Tahiti from the beginning and ultimately, thats where we'd really like to go.

Fiji sounds absolutely beautiful but my fiance was apprehensive about staying at the only resort on an island and being "stranded." It would be a big change from our typically busy vacations and I don't think he'd be able to learn to relax! That, and the even longer flight to Fiji and the sometimes long inter-island flights had us second-guessing a honeymoon in Fiji. It will surely be on our must-see list of places to visit in the future!

You mentioned that you'll be doing the Star Clippers cruise...can I ask what made you decide to give it a try? We really considered cruising on the Star Flyer (I could totally picture myself lounging around with a cocktail, while my fiance helped hoist the sails!) but we were worried about its size and seasickness becoming a problem. Have you been on BOTH the PG and the TP?

Thanks for your help!!

Good Morning Erica!

I know what you mean about trying to decide....when we originally decided to go to Tahiti, we had intended on trading our timeshare and stayng on Moorea. After adding up the costs(upgrading to an OWB, food, transport, activities} and being able to see one island, I started researching the cruise. We wanted to keep our budget in the $6000 - $7000 range and we were able to do that on the Tahitian Princess with a Balcony cabin. The PG would have been at least $2K more for a Porthole cabin and at that time drinks weren't included....I've never understood why everyone uses that to justify the cost difference.....how can you drink that much during a week & enjoy the cruise, heck I'm 2 & out usually:D Don't get me wrong, the PG is an awesome ship & we were going to sail on her the next trip until we heard about the Star Flyer. Reasons for choosing the SF and your concern over seasickness is a valid one if you haven't been on the ocean in a smaller boat, which we have & have never experienced seasickness unless you count the times cruising back from Cozumel & having too many Margaritas;) The silence while moving through the water with nothing but the wind rustling through the sails, riding in the 'Widows Net' watching the dolphins play in the bow wake,no casino, no big stage shows, climbing the mast, working the sails if I choose, diving right off the ship in their Zodiacs, free kayaks & sailboats, staying overnight on each of the islands and mainly, the romance of the sailing experience. On the seasick side, there are only 2 fairly long stretches at sea....the leg from Tahiti to Huahine & the leg from Bora Bora to Moorea. Each is a little more than 100 miles so you've got a 10 - 12 hr leg. All the other islands, Huahine, Raiatea, Tahaa, Bora Bora and then Moorea & Tahiti are all less than 25 miles from each other so you don't have a long time in between. And no, we've never been on the PG. But, we did stay at a Holiday Inn Express once:D Maybe next trip if there is one...we want to try Malaysia or Indonesia next because of the diving. You hear very little negative about the PG and it is probably a step up in luxury & service from either of the two ships.

Good luck with your decision:)

PS...Just checked your poll, haven't voted yet. I thought you were looking at November? In November the TP's itinerary will have changed. They are dropping Rarotonga & adding Rangiroa to the schedule. I'm surprised your TA wasn't aware of this. In January 09, she heads off on a 100 +day world cruise & may not return to Tahiti. She stops the Rarotonga stop this April & then goes to Alaska until October. If it's not November, never mind!

Hi everyone,

Sorry it took me so long to respond...thank you for sharing your albums and the links to all the wonderful pictures!

I am happy to report that my fiance and I finally booked our honeymoon! After what seems like months of research, we decided on the 10 day Tahitian Princess cruise with a 2 day post-cruise stay at the Sheraton in Moorea. We couldn't be happier and I'm excited to begin our countdown! :D

Thank you again for all of your help!
