booyey Posted April 2, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 2, 2008 I'm wondering if it is worth the extra $100+ on top of the $229 we are already paying to go to the fjords. If anyone has done the "extra" half hour flight up to circle the glacier, I'd love to hear about it and if it was worth it.
booyey Posted April 2, 2008 Author #2 Share Posted April 2, 2008 I should clarify- this is the Island Wings tour- http://www.islandwings.com/ There is one with the fjords and one with the fjords and glacier for extra money.
whale-watcher Posted April 2, 2008 #3 Share Posted April 2, 2008 I posted this same question last week, but it seems like very few people have done this. We thought this sounded like an interesting option, but our port time in Ketchikan was too short so we could not combine this longer float plane trip with a tour of Saxman (which was also high priority for us)...we did not want to put all our eggs in the float plane basket, in case we were weathered'out, and left with nothing to do in port. We ended up booking a separate glacier flightseeing excursion out of Skagway instead (not a huge overall cost difference, and we have loads of time there), but we are still interested in hearing reviews from anyone who has done the Misty Fjord/Glacier combination as well.
