Budget Queen Posted April 3, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 3, 2008 It will make a significant difference if the w/c dependent person can transfer, walk a few steps etc?? This company offers excellent tours, perhaps consider them, since you can contact them ahead and make arrangements if available?? http://www.mightygreattrips.com/index.htm It's a big loop at Totem Bight, a lot of work for the w/c pusher. In town there are many very beautiful totems and the sidewalks very accessable with plenty of stops and benches along the way. Public Lands building/ Alaska Discovery can be a worthwhile stop perhaps?? http://www.fs.fed.us/r10/tongass/districts/discoverycenter/

2Oregonians Posted April 3, 2008 #4 Share Posted April 3, 2008 OP, other than the hatchery tour, we are doing the exact same excursions as you. (Our 2nd one in Juneau is the Salmon Bake.) We go in July. If you check back here after July 26th, I'll let you know how appropriate they are for a child and for a wheelchair. I know that's close to when you cruise, but I thought I'd offer. :)

2Oregonians Posted April 3, 2008 #7 Share Posted April 3, 2008 I was told of this blog to read regarding a question I asked about something else. In reading it, I saw this writeup about Mendenhall Glacier. It mentions things about wheelchair accessibility. Thought you might want to read it too. http://juneaudailyphoto.blogspot.com/2008/04/mendenhall-recreationa-area.html
Budget Queen Posted April 3, 2008 #8 Share Posted April 3, 2008 thanks for the info budget queen, when you say big loop what do you mean ? im sorry  like a hill? It's a distance from the drop off point goes to clan house past totems then returns, some viewing is from grass. And downhill, uphill return, but not too bad. It would involve a lot of effort for the pusher perhaps, depending??
