How do I replace url address with alias

I've seen some posters replace a web page link with text describing the link, but cannot figure out how to do this. I would appreciate some help.

Thanks,

Marc

1) type the descriptive text in the message box.

2) highlight it with your mouse

3) click the "globe with binoculars" symbol just above the message box

4) enter the URL

5) click "OK"

you're done!

I dont have/see it?
Do you see it in a row of icons immediately above the text entry box where you are typing your post? If not, I suspect that you also don't see a group of "smilies" to the right of the text entry box? (Different from the "post icons" which are below the text entry box.)

If you haven't got either of those, then do this:-

  • Go to your User CP (link near top left hand corner of this page)
  • Go to Edit Options (from list on left hand side of page)
  • Go to the bottom of the page
  • In the penultimate option, change it from Basic to either Standard or Enhanced
  • Save Changes

The next time you type a post, you will see the blue globe icon in a row immediately above the text entry box where you are typing.
