balcony on dawn

Just booked the 8/3 cruise on Dawn to Bermuda...

Will be traveling with my husband, parents, and in-laws

 

We booked three adjacent cabins (not connecting). We were told that there was a chance that they can remove the partitions on the balconies, so they will connect. Has anyone done this? Is it possible? And if so, who do we contact so we make sure it happens.

Katie,

You could just wait till onboard and tell the room steward, or you could email the accessdesk@ncl.com and request it ahead of time. I'm not sure that is the right office, but they are the one I email when requesting specific bedding for our rooms. Worth a try anyway, unless someone else has a better idea.

Wait until you board and ask the room stewards to open up the partitions. That's what we did last year. Every room steward has a key to be able to do this. So, it shouldn't be a problem.

Also, they can't "remove" the partitions. They simply open up like doors which allows you to move from balcony to balcony. (the frame of the "partitions" will also remain in place so it is not one complete open balcony between the three.)

We've had the doors opened on the Dawn in the past. As stated above they are just opened, not removed. They don't fold back flat so one balcony will loose some floor space. On past Dawn cruises once they were opened they remained so unless weather required they be locked or we asked for them to be closed. On our recent Pearl cruise we were informed that the doors could only be opened while we were in port, as it was a safety issue. Don't know if this is a new fleet wide policy or just ship specific. Right after telling us about this policy our cabin steward mentioned that they couldn't come into the stateroom if the "Do Not Disturb Sign" was posted. Unfortunately that seems to be what happened on a couple of evenings when we left port. We all must have just forgotten to turn that wheel back to "Welcome" after an afternoon nap. ;)
