Can you take left over food from dinner?

Will the dining room allow you to take your left overs and maybe an extra dessert to your room? We're scheduled for early dining and it would be nice to have a nice treat later in the evening.

Dont know about dinner but we have taken dessert back to the cabin;)

Do you have a refrigerator in your cabin? I know we never bring anything extra and never saw anyone else do it. The buffet will still be open with unlimited desserts until quite late and you can order stuff from room service for free if you dont want to hit the buffet.

There is so much food available at so many times - - - go down to the buffet before 9:30pm and you can get a dessert (I saw the chocolate melting cake available on the buffet on the 2nd formal night - we opted for the buffet that night). But you can get ice cream 24 hours. Also you can get pizza 24 hours. What else does one need :).

I did notice on our Capers that there was the Seaview Bistro at Rosies from 11:30pm-1:30am - Not sure what that consists of. Oh, also the deli is open until 11:00pm. Never a shortage of food I must say.

I havent seen it because it has to be served when its hot, tastes like melting not cooked chocolate cake to me. Same reason they cant serve baked alaska on the buffet. But chocolate melting cake wouldnt be hot or as good if you took it back to your cabin either to me to eat later cold.

 

I have gotten other good desserts like cheescake etc up there, most of the desserts you will find on the buffet.

For sure on the dessert. I was not feeling like going to the dining room one night and my sister brought me back several desserts. Made my headache feel a lot better:)

The chocolate melting cake was under the warming lights - it wasn't hot - but it was still nice and warm and chocolaty.

But, maybe we will on Carnival cruise we are going very soon. Can you please explain in details how it works:

- How you order (is there a menu in the room? Is it always the same, or changed daily)?

- What can be ordered?

- How it is delivered (do they knock on the door, and you have to open it), or they can deliver to inside the room (What I am thinking if we wake up to the smell of coffee, for example. Could be cool to surprise my wife, and order it in advance).

- How do you pay for it. Do you pay for food (I think it is free)? Do you pay for delivery? Are you expected to give some tips? If yes, how much?

Menu is in the room, just call and order. The menu never changes and is cold items only, sandwhiches and stuff. There is a breakfast order door hanger you can also use to place an order the night before.

 

Customary tip is $1-$2 depending on the size of the order.

You get a menu on your pillow as I remember Carnival (my last 3 cruises were RCL so I get confused). The pillow menu will have the breakfast menu. You can order coffee at a certain time. Im not sure if they knock on your door or just leave it outside your door. You can order dry items like fruit or rolls to go with the coffe. The other menus you call up on your phone...just the pillow menu you get at night is given to you to hang on your door.

I suggested this on another thread - if you think you might want to use the hang tags to order breakfast, MAKE SURE you have some in the room. They are usually hanging on the wall near the door, and some may be in the binder on the desk. We rarely use this service, but after a LONG night of drinking on our last cruise we decided to take advantage of the hang tags - only to discover we had none in our room. It was 2 AM, we had already showered and were in our PJ's, so we just gave up on the idea and went to bed. I went to the buffet and brought breakfast back to the room the next morning. Next time we're going to check on embarkation day to make sure we have them in the room ;)

OK then its a different cruise line that calls them pillow menus and your cabin steward leaves on on your pillow every night? Princess? I get so confused about stuff I dont do much myself.

On port days they sometimes warn that room service can take up to an hour for breakfast, so pre-ordering with the cards or run to the Lido and carry it back to your room.

 

Otherwise (not all ships have #22!)

LOL - no kidding - 9 night cruise - Explorer - 2 teens. We slept through San Juan, we didn't want to get off the boat anyway and Immigration had us up early that morning. I woke up when the ship pulled out of port - I woke both kids with "ok, you slept all day, you missed 27 meals, get out there and get my money's worth!"
