Need help with this exchange rate PLEASE!

At a local foreign currency exchange near my home I am being offered 86.9 XPF to 1 USD. This is better than what I have seen today on the internet currency converters, but is this competative with what I could get at the Papeete airport ATM? Sounded good to me, but wasn't sure.

I just bought $500 in XPF from my bank here in Canada and was charged 65.3 exchange rate so if you can get it for that then go for it.

Also consider the additional costs assessed by your local exchange. Not just the advertised exchange rate but the "commission and fees" charged which impact the actual XPF francs you will put in your pocket.

 

ATM rate in Papeete in early March - with fees factored in - was roughly 70.

That is an excellent rate I would say considering we have Royal Certified Service with our bank that we have been banking with for over 25 years.......and were still charged a $2.50 fee. I wish I could have gotten the rate you are getting!;)

Yes, it does sound good. We returned from Papeete on April 11. At the airport we purchased 100XPF and it cost us $132 US. There was no fee or commission.

It is true. Made the transaction a couple of days ago. Thinking of going back and getting more! I have used them before.

That is a wonderful rate - congratulations. Today, April 22, official quote is about 74 XPF to $1 USD (before fees & commissions):

keep in mind that the cfp franc is tied up to the Euro ( soon to be the official currency of FP )

 

Check the following chart to see how bad our Dollar is. the initial post is correct for the exchange rate in Dec.

Keep in mind that 1 Euro = 119.33 CFP franc ( fixed rate )
