ecowen Posted April 1, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 1, 2004 Summit and Mercury sale to Alaska. Both have 2 formal nights. I would probably pick Mercury because I prefer a smaller ship, and I just happen to like Mercury better. However, you have more variety of food and entertainment on the larger Summit. Summit has an alternate restaurant So it depends on your priorities. What are you looking for in a cruise?
catmand Posted April 1, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 1, 2004 Patty, there are a number of choices for Alaska that time of year, I guess you need to take a look at all the different possibilities and decide what may suit you best. Chceck out the Celebrity web site or pick up a brochure There are formal nights on Alaskian cruises. catmand Posted April 1, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 1, 2004 Patty, did some looking for you.... August....Summit....7 night Vancouver to Seward and Seward to Vancouver You can also add on 3,4,5 and 6 day land tours either before or after your cruise. Infinity 7 night round trip Vancouver Inside passage. You can add 3 and 5 day land tours . Mercury 7 night round trip Seattle If it was my call: I would go in September and do the Mercury 12 day round trip out of San Francisco, of course I live there. Whatever you decide you can not go wrong! FreesiaE Posted April 1, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 1, 2004 I'll be doing the Mercury on 08/06/04. It's great for people on a budget (like me!) because you fly in and out of Seattle, helping to save money rather than in and out of different aiports! It should be great! catmand Posted April 1, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 1, 2004 FreesiaE..........we sailed the Star R/T Seattle last September, you are so right about the $$ savings on the airfare, we had a great time in Seattle and a better time on the cruise. The problem with cruising Alaska as I see it is....once is not enough Star Princess 9/03 Alaska Celebrity Mercury 3/04 Mexico Next: Sapphire Princess 10/2/04 Mercury Cruise Pic's 3/13/04 http://community.webshots.com/user/catmand100
