wanderingjew Posted April 18, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 18, 2008 Has anybody sold the free charm bracelets to these internet gold and silver sellers i see on tv ads?
pms4104 Posted April 18, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 18, 2008 No, I have not even tried because ... I think the bracelets are merely very cheap costume jewelry and nothing seriious gold and silver buyers would find worth considering. JMHO.

traveler/ Posted April 18, 2008 #5 Share Posted April 18, 2008 My wife collects them at the port we visit that has a DI store. They are a nice momento of the port visit. They have little $ value, but as a momento, they are "priceless".

bullydogsmama Posted April 18, 2008 #7 Share Posted April 18, 2008 I collected them from the carribean and gave the bracelet to my 10 year old granddaughter, she loved it. Cheap junk but any "Gold" glitter and Sarah loves it!:D
lady_cruiser Posted April 19, 2008 #8 Share Posted April 19, 2008 I can't even tell what some of the charms are. I have a somboreo (spelling ?? - spell check doesn't work on this old computer) and, if my sister didn't tell me what it was I would not have known it was a Mexcian Hat. CWcruisers Posted April 19, 2008 #11 Share Posted April 19, 2008 It's really about the hunt and conquer. DH and I look for cruises with the remaining ports in the itineary. I only have 4 to go. My mother cheated and bought the charms, what fun is that?
Lowie Posted April 19, 2008 #12 Share Posted April 19, 2008 we got these bracelets in cozumel just because we were in DI so my dad could ask about a watch. i was a jeweler for years, so i knew they were junk from the get go. we put the bracelets on and seriously, within 10 minutes the gold plating wore off. they'd be better off leaving them as silver colored. Same for me. I think maybe they're gold colored plastic. My brother goes nuts when I go into the stores to ask for them.
cruiser2101 Posted April 26, 2008 #14 Share Posted April 26, 2008 I laugh every time I think about how far we walked one time to get that cheap thing. We all really thought we were going to get something valuable...haha. Mine found it's way to the bottom of my jewelry box. If I had a kid to give it to, I would. RC Tim Posted September 18, 2018 #15 Share Posted September 18, 2018 My wife and I both get the bracelets and charm whenever we cruise. It is a fun way to have a free souvenir of the trip. Quality aside, it is fun to collect the memory. We have a lot of fun when hitting the "shopping" ports like Cozumel, and see how many "free" charms we can collect. (Many of the merchants will have signs, "Come in to get your free charm") Yes, you have to step in and see what wares they have, but it is still fun interaction. We make it into a Treasure Hunt of sorts. Now, after 4 cruises, we are building the charm bracelets into a charm necklace. :p She mainly will wear it on the cruise just as a fun item. Hey... your on vacation..... ENJOY THE MOMENT and build memories. It's the little things that add spice to life. :)

Krazy Kruizers Posted September 19, 2018 #17 Share Posted September 19, 2018 I collected those cute little charms for the little girl next door to us. She loved them. They are not real gold.
mafig Posted September 19, 2018 #18 Share Posted September 19, 2018 They're just base metal, not even silver. The gold wears off on me too. Within a few hours.
jlp20 Posted September 20, 2018 #19 Share Posted September 20, 2018 Heads up, wife made purchase of a small chain that need small repair 6 months later. Multiple searches failed to find the company. Seems they only operate on ships while they are in international waters. No pesky American consumer laws to obey.
RC Tim Posted September 20, 2018 #20 Share Posted September 20, 2018 If you collect enough of them, you could make a very nice lanyard for your keycard. :D:D That is exactly what I told her!!!! I figured the bracelet is 6 inches long, we have 4 cruises under out belt, so we should have a interesting lanyard by our next cruise. What a fun idea, and conversation piece when meeting others on the cruise.
