maun Posted April 18, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 18, 2008 Is a passport needed to sail to Bermuda or is a birth certificate and photo ID still sufficient?
johnql Posted April 18, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 18, 2008 Here's what's posted on the U.S. State Dept's web site concerning travel to Bermuda: All Americans traveling by air outside of the United States are required to present a passport or other valid travel document to enter or re-enter the United States . This requirement will be extended to sea travel (except closed loop cruises), including ferry service, by the summer of 2009. Until then, U.S. citizens traveling by sea must have government-issued photo identification and a document showing their U.S. citizenship (for example, a birth certificate or certificate of nationalization), or other WHTI compliant document such as a passport card for entry or re-entry to the U.S. Sea travelers should also check with their cruise line and countries of destination for any foreign entry requirements. LateCruiser Posted April 19, 2008 #4 Share Posted April 19, 2008 Keep in mind, if you happen to get sick and put off the ship, or miss getting back to the ship before its departure it's your responsibility to get to the next port of call or back to the US. IF you have to fly, you'll need a passport. Better safe than sorry - get one.
