patches12 Posted April 20, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 20, 2008 1st timer here. I have finally narrowed it down to two choices for Western Caribbean cruise on Carnival. Legend- 5/25 or 6/1 dates. ocean view or balcony? Triumph- 6/1 date. ocean view or balcony? Which room? which level? What are the differences between the two ships? Legend is smaller, I know. Anyone traveled both? Thanks,
crusinpsychRN Posted April 20, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 20, 2008 I've cruised on the Miracle, sister to the Legend. Beautiful ship. If you get a balcony on your first cruise it will spoil you and you'll never change so watch out!
sparkscruiser Posted April 20, 2008 #3 Share Posted April 20, 2008 Having been on the Triumph and three of the Legends sister ships, I am partial to the Legend. Some advantages - my opinion of course, but the Legend is much easier to navigate - no going up a floor to go around a dining room, etc. plus the Legend has a supper club which is genuinely worth the extra that you pay for dining there. I've been in OV, IS and balcony cabins, and agree that once you have been in a balcony it is difficult (but not impossible) to go to another category. We had a great time on the Triumph and she is a beautiful ship. Met friends for a lifetime on her. Both are good options - perhpas the itinerary would be a deciding factor. We have been on both and loved the eastern carribbean. So I am not much help in that respect either. Whichever you choose, have a great cruise. ItaliaAmerCruzLady Posted April 20, 2008 #4 Share Posted April 20, 2008 Been on both, loved them both, maybe the Legend slightly more, its a little smaller, but not so you`d really notice. I would book a OV guarantee and hope for an upgrade. OF course if you wont be happy with anything less than a balcony, by all means book it.When I have booked a guarantee, I have always been upgraded, course that doesnt mean it will always happen. I never thought the level made much difference, if you check out the cabin layout, you might want to avoid decks that are directly above the casino, other than that, I dont see a problem.;)

momofzeke Posted April 20, 2008 #6 Share Posted April 20, 2008 Haven't been on Triumph, but I've been on 2 of Legend's sister ships. LOVE the Spirit class ships! As others said, the layout of the Spirit class is very easy to navigate. You can walk all the way from the front of the ship to the back on any deck. As far as cabin category, if you can swing the balcony, go for it! But there is nothing wrong with oceanview either. I actually like being on Riviera deck on Spirit class ships (that would be oceanview) because you only have to go up 1 or 2 decks to get to the public areas like dining room, shops, casinos, bars, showroom. Very convenient. You are farther away from Lido (deck 9) but the elevators on Riviera deck usually aren't that busy. Good luck! :)
