babchia Posted May 19, 2008 Author #26 Share Posted May 19, 2008 I love the second one! You could use a shawl/shryg/qrap in a light fabric. I will be! LOL

NorthernLite Posted May 20, 2008 #29 Share Posted May 20, 2008 NOW, I MUST BUY A STRAPLESS BRA AND SEXY SANDALS! LOL Try http://www.jms.com for the bra. They also carry swimsuits and clothing.
Debathome Posted May 21, 2008 #30 Share Posted May 21, 2008 Here are a couple of good sites for dresses... www.igigi.com and www.silhouettes.com Good luck on finding those perfect dresses!! Happy Cruising all!
Jfultz81 Posted May 21, 2008 #31 Share Posted May 21, 2008 Anyone have good suggestions on where to buy wraps? I have a dark navy dress that I can't find a wrap for (I'd even be happy with a small sweater/jacket type thing). I have tried Lane Bryant and several online sites, but can't find anything that works with navy. :(
pattigay Posted May 21, 2008 #32 Share Posted May 21, 2008 I am also "PLush" (I'm going to steal that word!) and have found lots of bathing suits for us fluffy girls at Lands End. They have a really wide size range and even describe their suits so that you know which problem areas they are must suitable for. Just another suggestion. By the way, thanks to those who have responded with their favorite websites - I've bookmarked some of these that I hadn't seen before!!!
babchia Posted May 22, 2008 Author #33 Share Posted May 22, 2008 My dd (now in college) made that term "plush" up. She said it meant plus and luscious! I just love it. It sounds much nicer than plus.

RaeVynn Posted May 23, 2008 #37 Share Posted May 23, 2008 It's too early for me to buy a dress, but I'm looking! This is a good site: http://www.buyinamerica.com/ I am also a fan of: http://www.holyclothing.com ... and I've gotten several things from them, so far. Very nice, a little bit on the roomy side, as far as sizing, and I got LOTS of compliments!

rjdunn Posted May 24, 2008 #39 Share Posted May 24, 2008 This was my solution for the bathing suit situation. They are longer nylon shorts with a pocket. They are awesome. I have a pair in black which compliments both of my suits, and they dry super quick. http://media.redcatsusa.com/is/image/womanwithin/mm/0028_29181_mm.jpg?wid=230&hei=331&qlt=95&op_sharpen=1 http://www.womanwithin.com
Doug&Suzy-Q Posted May 25, 2008 #40 Share Posted May 25, 2008 Wonderful suggestions.....thank you everyone...I ordered my GD a tankini from JMS...sizes are perfect. She looks absolutely beautiful in the style and color...........so with all the suggestions, I just ordered her the brown swim cover and an "on sale" swim suit (yes another one)....grandma is a pushover:eek: this one from Fashion Bug. I hope sizes are true...... I have put Holyclothing on my favorites.....you say sizes run a tad on the big side???? I love there dresses:D Thank you everyone....... Doug&Suzy-Q Posted May 25, 2008 #41 Share Posted May 25, 2008 I like this one.. http://www.womanwithin.com/clothing/Candlelight-and-Champagne-Jewel-back-dress.aspx?PfId=131720&DeptId=9285&ProductTypeId=1&PurchaseType=0 I might even buy it myself. I'm also "plush" and my problem is I'm under 30 and a lot of the larger formalwear is designed for grandma's (no offense!!). Hay Jen........I don't like the "old grandma look" either.......AND I am a grandma:D some of the clothes look old and frumpy...what a shame...there is quite a market out there for plus sizes......wake up you manufacturer folks:p
Verity Posted May 25, 2008 #42 Share Posted May 25, 2008 Its really cute.. my only dilemma is wearing something black over navy. I don't like doing it because it looks like you did it accidently. I don't know what other color to pair with it though :( I would not hesitate to put black over navy. You can even find dresses with that combination. This sweater seems to be quite popular for the summer. I have seen it in beige and white. I bet you will be able to find it by the end of summer in navy. I also have a thing about showing my arms. When I got my MOB gown, the saleslady showed me how to take a pretty long rectangular shawl and tie it in back. It looked just like a jacket. My sister had to tie it for me on the day of the wedding but it is a nice solution. They always have such pretty shawls, too. Good luck

I don't know what other color to pair with it though :( I just found this sweater at Coldwater Creek. http://www.coldwatercreek.com/Products/Product.aspx?productid=40923&ensembleid=46827 I'm not sure how it would go with navy. You would almost have to see it together. Before our Hawaii cruise, I found a short sleeve pink sweater that tied just like this one. I wore it over a black dress I found at Travel Smith. I wear that sweater all the time. It is just perfect with pants, skirts or dresses.
forensic Posted May 25, 2008 #44 Share Posted May 25, 2008 Here's a picture of the swimsuit I just ordered! http://www.fashionbug.com/pagebuilder/fashion_bug_product_page?nav=Plus&item=1349158&pagesize=3&sub_cat=SWIM&shop= I know, both are black, but that's what's available right now. I did buy another dress that's a turquois and black dress. See it here: http://www.fashionbug.com/pagebuilder/fashion_bug_product_page?nav=Plus&item=1649318&pagesize=3&sub_cat=DRESSES&shop= Not sure if I'm keeping that one. Oh, I did get a convertable bra at Fashionbug.com. They were having a great online sael and I had an additional 15% off code! The bra and bathing suit and shipping are under $60. Really nice! I especially like the first black one! Good choice!
knitter Posted May 26, 2008 #45 Share Posted May 26, 2008 I use a long knit skirt or pants with a tank and a jacket. Look for Vicki Vi, Chicos, City Knits (QVC) or such. I can't wear heels anymore, and use dressy flats, including "dressy" Birkinstock types (I have a pair that are gold leather with rhinestones) - besides- if the sea is at all rough heels are not as safe for heels. I have a lot of travel clothes from Chicos. Periodically, they have dress travel clothes that are quite pretty. I have used them on formal nights because they take up so little room in my suitcase and have sequins and pretty stones on them.
shofer Posted May 26, 2008 #47 Share Posted May 26, 2008 As a "plush" size myself, I feel your pain looking for appropriate and not "grandma" looking clothes. I cringe at some of the styles I see thinking back to what my great-aunts wore back in the day. I find great buys on http://www.coldwatercreekoutlet.com. Also http://www.drapers.com & http://www.roaman.com has lots of nice casual and dressy things for our size. For bras & bathing suits, try http://www.bali.com. Great buys in foundations and bathing suits. DH says I must get very plus size catalog in print! I love shopping for cruise clothes. Wish I had another one planned, but we went in February and DD is getting married in August so guess where all available cash is going? Hope you have a great time. Jfultz81 Posted May 27, 2008 #48 Share Posted May 27, 2008 I just found this sweater at Coldwater Creek. http://www.coldwatercreek.com/Products/Product.aspx?productid=40923&ensembleid=46827 Ohh, its gorgeous! Not sure how it would go either. The dress is navy and the embellishments are copper and green (the color copper gets as it weathers). I do really like that top, so maybe I'll have to "need" it for another outfit! I did find one thing on onestopplus that might work - http://www.onestopplus.com/clothing/Puckered-Ribbon-Tie-Cardigan.aspx?PfId=128017&DeptId=11548&ProductTypeId=1&from=L in the navy color. Do you think its formal enough? I also wanted to pass this on if anyone needed a nice little black dress at a steal - http://www.oldnavy.com/browse/product.do?cid=7323&pid=580301&scid=580301002 I will tell you Old Navy's Plus runs a good bit bigger than Lane Bryant, etc. but I like their casual clothes and I'm excited to see a bit more dressy stuff. Can't beat $34.50 for a LBD!
CruisenLexie Posted May 27, 2008 #49 Share Posted May 27, 2008 How about this dress - no arms showing. http://www.womanwithin.com/clothing/Candlelight-and-Champagneandreg-Rhinestone-circle-trimmed-dress.aspx?PfId=118652&DeptId=9304&ProductTypeId=1&PurchaseType=0or this onehttp://www.womanwithin.com/clothing/Candlelight-and-Champagne-Lace-trapeze-dress.aspx?PfId=117981&DeptId=9304&ProductTypeId=1&PurchaseType=0 and while we're here - these suits are very flattering http://www.womanwithin.com/department.aspx?DeptId=9290&12PerPage=1 I've ordered from this catalog before - if you normally wear a size 26, I would order a 24 or maybe even a 22 - they run big. Find something you will feel pretty in and enjoy yourself! I looked at these dresses and I think they are very nice and if I was going on a cruise soon I would be ordering one of them. Thanks for another website to shop at!

Can't beat $34.50 for a LBD! The URL didn't work at onestopplus. I hate when they move the pages lol That black dress is cute and the fabric is great for travel. When I bought the black dress from Travel Smith last year, it was very hard finding a top for it....and it was black. I understand how you would feel more comfortable with a top. It should be easier this year because they are showing a lot of short one button tops to go over tanks or dresses. Let us know how your search goes. BTW, I also thought that sweater from Coldwater Creek might look good in my wardrobe so I'm buying it. I'm waiting until I find a coupon first
