electricron Posted May 14, 2008 #4 Share Posted May 14, 2008 You're post is the first about any problems with the Jade. So, we don't know if it's true or not.
odblnt Posted May 14, 2008 #5 Share Posted May 14, 2008 I don't know but we just saw it down at the pier this afternoon (still labeled as PoAl) and it looked fine.
jlines Posted May 14, 2008 #6 Share Posted May 14, 2008 I don't know but we just saw it down at the pier this afternoon (still labeled as PoAl) and it looked fine. This isn't the same ship. The Jade used to be the Pride of Hawaii and has been in Europe since March.

I keep getting confused as they take the ships out of here. :( PoA is going to become the Sky (again) soon.
smeyer418 Posted May 14, 2008 #8 Share Posted May 14, 2008 if there was an accident we will see something about it from the industry sources(like sea trade) or from a cc on board. Given that the Dawn is having an issue, it may be that you just heard wrong. Where did you "hear" it.? If it was as you describe, it would be all over the news...and so far it isn't

AFT_LOVER Posted May 14, 2008 #14 Share Posted May 14, 2008 that is Pride of America, the surviving NCLA ship. Pride of Hawaii aka Jade has new hull art, casino on 6th deck termed "largest at sea". Per Jamie, P OF A crew member who verified the changes to this European cruiser. Pride of Aloha is Sky now and that is getting new hull art & casino, doing Bahamas I think. I don't know but we just saw it down at the pier this afternoon (still labeled as PoAl) and it looked fine.

Goldryder Posted May 16, 2008 #21 Share Posted May 16, 2008 Maritimematters have now reported that Jade suffered a gyro-compass failure that led to a sharp turn to port and an 8 degree list which sent a buffet flying and the pools emptied. It happened at 9pm on the 12 May tween Venice & Naples. She was running at 22 knots when the problem occurred. No injuries reported and she will be arriving as per schedule in Barcelona on the 17th. Amazing no one was hurt - that would seem to be quite the list. I'm assuming the gyro-compass was repaired fairly quickly??
