Rare Radio Posted June 21, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 21, 2008 Hello everyone! Today is the first day of my first "LIVE" report aboard Norwegian Cruise Line. I will be sailing on the MS Majesty to Bermuda for a 7 night cruise. We will be docked at the Ordnance Island Pier in St George's, Bermuda from Monday to Thursday. Those of you who have followed my "LIVE" reports with RCI, and HAL already know that I will provide daily comments and trip reports from this cruise. I will also try to post "LIVE" pics daily (as long as I am able to maintain a valid wireless connection) The MS Majesty is currently owned by (Cyprus based) Louis Cruise Line, and is under charter by Norwegian Cruise Line until Dec 2009. It will be interesting to see what 2.0 Enhancements will be implemented on this ship while she is leased to NCL. The NCL Majesty was purchased in 1997, from Majesty Cruise Line, and was stretched in 1999. This will be the first of 10 cruises sailing from the port of Baltimore (Cruise Maryland), and then she will sail another 10 cruises from Philadelphia, before returning to Charleston, SC later this year. So sit back, and relax. . .this should be a fun cruise ! I hope that my internet connection stays active. I should be getting to Cruise Maryland by about noon, and I will try to post several pics before sail away at 4PM. The weather for today should be nice (hopefully no rain !) I will be sailing with my brother today . . .(Mrs Radio will be sailing with me for my next Cruise in September) Thanks for tuning in ! electricron Posted June 21, 2008 #4 Share Posted June 21, 2008 I'd be surprise if NCL implements many Freestyle 2.0 perks that require hard goods. The 2.0 perks not requiring hard goods maybe. Golly, the Majesty didn't implement Freestyle 1.0 all that well, you might be asking too much of the old gal for 2.0......

Rare Radio Posted June 21, 2008 Author #11 Share Posted June 21, 2008 Sometimes when I get up early. . . My brain doesn't cooperate with my typing. . . . On my first post I labeled the ship Majesty of the Seas, when I should have typed Norwegian Majesty. . . . Oooops  Sorry NCL . . .:D (Maybe the Mods can correct it ?, The Cruise Critic Mod's are great, aren't they !) I should be getting to the pier in about 1 hour. . . . Thanks for tuning in. . . WebNanny Posted June 21, 2008 #13 Share Posted June 21, 2008 Thank you, Radio! I am looking forward to your reports and hope they are favorable. Last year in Bermuda (on Empress) I saw the NCL ship in St. George's and so envied the lucky people who were parked there for 3 days. I took the plunge and reserved the Norwegian Majesty cruise for 2009. Much as I love Grandeur OTS, I need more time in Bermuda than a one-nighter.;) Have a great cruise! bluesea777 Posted June 21, 2008 #14 Share Posted June 21, 2008 The NCL Majesty was purchased in 1997, from Majesty Cruise Line, and was stretched in 1999. When Majesty was under Majesty Cruise Line it was called CROWN MAJESTY and she DID come to Bermuda on weekly basis during the 1990's.
spcl4cs_gal Posted June 21, 2008 #15 Share Posted June 21, 2008 Hey Radio! Have a great time on your cruise to Bermuda. I was there a couple summers ago with NCL on the Dawn and I'll be very interested to read whether you have a good week or not....mine wasn't so great. :( Guess that's why I'm sticking with HAL for the time being. Enjoy Bermuda...it's a very nice but somewhat expensive island. suebee53 Posted June 21, 2008 #21 Share Posted June 21, 2008 Ever since I learned several weeks ago you'd be blogging your "Live from the Majesty" and checked out your website, I have found myself thinking "June 21 . . . Radio's cruise. . . almost here!!! Woo-hooo!" And here were are, waiting with bated breath! I'll be on the 7/5 sailing and just decided to make it a REAL vacation by not taking my laptop for the first time in years. I just learned that some people have been able to get free wifi while the ship is docked in St. George's, which is great for us while YOU do the posting!! :D Have an absolutely wonderful time, Radio! I'm grateful that part of what makes it fun for YOU is posting for US!! And thanks to the poster who provide the pic of the pre-stretched Majesty! Our first cruise was on her, which will make it interesting to get back on the ship where we experienced our "first," knowing that nothing compares to that. (Especially if it was beyond anything you ever dreamed!) Sue in Dallas counting the days. . . .

jbhcw Posted June 21, 2008 #24 Share Posted June 21, 2008 Hi Radio, hope you have a great cruise!! I can remember a TA telling us many years ago the the Majesty was a state of the art ship, and I do remember family sailing on her out of Boston to Bermuda. We sailed her a few years ago out of Charleston in January. We had a suite and the room was very nice, ship was small though, but we still had a great cruise. One factor that we did not like was that two days going and one day or so coming were very cold as we sailed out of Charleston in January. Looking forward to your pictures and your report, and....... Baltimore is really not that far from NC:) :) Enjoy your cruise and thanks for taking us along again:)
Rare Radio Posted June 21, 2008 Author #25 Share Posted June 21, 2008 Hello everyone! I made it to Cruise Maryland Passenger terminal by about 11AM, and the parking lot was bare. There were only a few cars there, and Mrs. Radio dropped me off at the terminal. I was able to speak briefly with Signman (avid CC Poster), who works at the terminal and he suggested that things were going smooth. He noted that the agents were having little difficulty with this being the Inaugural Voyage for NCL (From Cruise Maryland). The Norwegian Crown sailed from the Dundalk Marine Terminal back in 2004, on the North side of the Tunnel. The check in process was very simple, and there was a Platinum Latitudes waiting area as well with Champagne and snacks. We boarded at 11:30Am, and I really like the way that NCL takes the Embarkation card photo during Check –In. RCI takes the photo while you are in line (after check in, and before boarding) We did not use the Gangway here . . .instead we just walk over to the ship and entered on Deck 2. We are able to enter our stateroom immediately because there were no passengers on board, and the rooms were cleaned on Thursday (The last cruise had debarkation in Charleston, SC) I have not had a chance to visit all of the areas on the ship, but I will have a lot of time to wander around with my camera, take some pics, and notes. Our muster drill is at 330PM, and we sail away at 4PM. I am happy that the Casino will open 1 ½ hrs after sailing, and there is a Coffee Bar onboard! Here are a few pics from boarding. Thanks for tuning in! Radio First View of NCL Majesty Cruise Maryland We arrived at a great time. . Not busy at all! Security Check in at the Terminal Easy boarding. . .with no ramps .
