patches12 Posted June 22, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 22, 2008 Please let me know if I have this wrong. I have read these posts, and this is what I have condensed. South Frigate Beach is the same as Marriott's beach?? On South Frigate Beach there are: chairs/umbrellas, Mr. Shiggidy & Ziggy's restaurants or bars. Ziggy's has lockers. Water taxi $10.00 pp round trip. Taxi $20.00 round trip up to 4 people. Rocky Beach on the left. Water sports equip to rent. Close to pier..don't know if there are two piers or not. Turtle Beach closed, essentially. Corkelshell Beach has bars, 20 min drive, some people said beach was trashy. Does Ziggy run out of lockers? Do both places have good food? Where will Carnival Destiny dock on Sat., July 12? So...no really great places to snorkel? Thanks,
paul58 Posted June 23, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 23, 2008 The Marriott is on North Frigate Bay- the Atlantic side, South Frigate Bay is the Caribbean side. There is only 1 pier for cruise ships that being Port Zante.
patches12 Posted June 24, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted June 24, 2008 Thanks! Do I have the taxi prices right? Price is for up to 4 people? South Frigate beach is NOT good for snorkeling? Is there some place close that IS good for snorkeling? How far from the pier is it? Thanks
paul58 Posted June 24, 2008 #4 Share Posted June 24, 2008 The rates are correct for the taxis. You might try South Friars beach for snorkeling. It is over the hill from South Frigate Beach, about another 5 minutes by taxi. There are several beach bars there also.
Rare MTV43 Posted June 28, 2008 #5 Share Posted June 28, 2008 Beach is depending on crowd, weather, sea condition. This is what we have experienced: Turtle beach was opened but we were not impressed. It is on the Atlantic side, current was strong and a lot sea weed the day we stopped by so we opted for Cockleshell beach which is next door to Turtle but facing Caribbean side. The water was calm and clear. Beach bar with foods/drink. There is mountain/reef to the left when entering the water. There was not school of fishes and spectacular coral formation like at Roatan, Cozumel, St. Lucia, but I enjoyed my time snorkeling there. I saw few rare and colorful fishes and a lot of star fishes. It offered the best of both world: sandy beach and offshore snorkeling. The drive was was unique since we saw both Atlantic and Caribbean at the same time. On the way, we saw a bay with tour boat, our tour guide told us that is White House Bay where tour boat stopping for snorkeling. You can get there by car but there is no beach facility. St. Kitts is one of a beautiful island among all of our stops. There was only one ship the say we were there and with a big group (17), we got a deal for $10pp round trip from 11:30 am to 3:30pm. Have fun at St. Kitts. MTV
