lrcruising Posted June 24, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 24, 2008 does anyone have the map provided by Royal Caribbean in the cruise compass that you could share?

lrcruising Posted June 24, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted June 24, 2008 I am looking for a map of where the cruise ships dock and the shops/restaurants in town there.
gtaylor Posted June 24, 2008 #4 Share Posted June 24, 2008 Here's a map to get you started. (click) Cruise ships use the A.C. Wathey Pier, off the bottom right of the map. The Water Taxi runs from there to the Captain Hodge Pier (also known as Little Pier) in downtown Philipsburg, with another stop near Bobby's Marina, close to where the '$' is noted on the map. This map identifies a number of shops and restaurants. To tie this all together, you can take my virtual walk down Front Street or the Boardwalk. If you're looking for a specific shop, bar or restaurant let me know and we'll try to identify the location on one of the maps. gary

perkyblue Posted June 29, 2008 #6 Share Posted June 29, 2008 Do any of those maps show where the cruse ships dock? Is it a realistic plan to take a water ferry over to Front street and walk around back to the ship? We have a few hours to waste before our excursion at 1:30. How long a walk would that be? Aplmac Posted June 29, 2008 #7 Share Posted June 29, 2008 Is it a realistic plan to take a water ferry over to Front street and walk around back to the ship? The realistic plan is to use the Water Taxi back to the dock area especially since your $6 entitles you to ride it whole day back and forth, anyways! The walk back is a bit much, and thru uninteresting area.
gtaylor Posted June 30, 2008 #8 Share Posted June 30, 2008 The top map in my post #4, above, shows the downtown area, and almost shows the Cruise Facility. There are pointers to the Wathey Pier. The water taxi fare is $6 if you want a full day pass, but if you only want a one-way ticket, then the fare is only $4 per person, with kids under 3 free. (click) The walk back from the end of Front Street to the Cruise Facility is just slightly over 1/2 mile. You can decide if you want to purchase the all day or one-way pass, maybe determined by the weather on the day you visit. I wouldn't say that it is completely uninteresting. You'll walk past some bar/restaurants and the back side of some marina haul-out areas (see the boats) on the way. There is also the Sang's Supermarket if you want to get in a little shopping along the way. gary
Karysa Posted March 17, 2014 #9 Share Posted March 17, 2014 For the poster looking for a map. If this one is not what you are looking for just do a search at the top of the page and I am sure that you will find one. Gary has posted many maps on here over the years. Yes of course. It's only a 12-20 min walk depending on "how you move". The water taxi is avail both directions. But many people choose to walk both ways. Up to you. If you decide to have lunch on Front St or enjoy some sand time, then the water taxi, if no long line, will be quicker.
