From June 26th through October 13th "The New York City Waterfalls" will be on display along the East River. Circle Line Downtown will provide the OFFICIAL Water Tours for the "New York City Waterfalls", with an audio introduction by the internationally renown artist who created them, Olafur Eliasson. All of Circle Line Downtown Water Tours are OFFICIAL experiences of “The New York City Waterfalls”. Choose from four different ways to marvel at this monumental work of public art, with insights from the artist. These special in depth tours are only available on Circle Line Downtown. No other offered tour will give you the exclusives as Circle Line’s.

We have had an overwhelming response for the free tickets to see “The New York City Waterfalls.” Free tickets for the first three weeks of the exhibit have been reserved. The new New York Water falls exhibit opened on June 26. You go to the South Street Seaport and take the Circle Line cruise which is about $10pp and lasts for one half hour. I'll post a few pictures of the waterfalls:

You can see these on any of the cruises or ferries that go around South Street Seaport and the Statue of Liberty. Actually, you can see them right from the pier. Nothing special, in my opinion.

It looks pretty cool to me; I plan to try to take a water taxi or ferry or tour ship to see them.

We did the Circle Line 1/2 hour cruise this past weekend. It really wasn't necessary - you can see all four of the waterfalls just walking around the South Street Seaport.

 

The Circle Line ship that does the 1/2 hour tour has most of the seating inside. If you want to do this, get online at least a half hour before the ship is supposed to leave so you can get dibs on the two areas that have seating on the outside of the boat.

 

The NY Water Taxi and the Zephyr had more outside areas to see the Waterfalls from. The NY Water taxi also left much more frequently than the Circle Line. We got to the Circle Line at 10:30 on Sunday and the earliest sailing that was available was at 1:30.

I really want to thank you for this information. I've been having a hard time finding something not sold out to see the waterfalls (at least on weekends). Walking around the seaport is what I will do.

I've only seen the waterfalls while walking and I am decidely unimpressed by them. They do look better after dark. If you have limited time in New York you may find a better use of your time.
