Tastings?

Recommended Posts

Sounds like fun but I've not heard of anything like this on Carnival but they do have free tastings at least one night of the cruise. The last one we attended they offered 6 flavors of rum and something similiar to kahlua. The tasting cups are tiny but they seem to encourage you to taste all you want and don't care how long you stay and keep tasting. They sell these bottles at a discount on those nights and I'm sure they know that the more you taste the more you'll buy.:p

One our last cruise they sampled Sheridan's which is WONDERFUL!!! They also had all the cruzan rums and several special liquers too. It's free! They want to sell booze so you get to try it. I have heard they had a wine tasting seminar that is around $15.00 though.

There was a wine tasting/food pairing seminar on the Miracle - held in the supper club - $10 - lots of fun - 3 reds/whites to try alone and with different foods/flavors. Definitely worth it...

we did the wine tasting on one of the Carnival cruises and was not impressed. It was @15 and you got 5 or 6 samples of wine. It was only like 1/4 - 1/2 of a glass and alot of talking about the wine in between each type.

They taught you how to smell the wine and sip it, what food it would go well with etc.....

This last cruise on the Fantasy we went to the free liquor tasting. We had a blast. Yes the samples are tiny, but free flowing. It was the 4 or 5 types of Cuzan rum, baileys, amiralla (which was yummy) and I don't remember the rest. it is right outside the liquor store and it is at night. I know I will go to that again.

That is what a wine tasting is for...to learn about the wine......;)

Celebrity has a dedicated martini bar and has martini tasting for a fee. My wife did not want to participate. She loves a good glass of wine but always thought martinis would taste like kerosene or something. Well she tagged along and once she tried one the tasting was over for me. Needless to say she now likes a well made martini.

They had some type of Martini thing right outside the casino one evening on the Liberty last summer 44

Carnival sets up a martini bar with an ice carving to sell regular martinis. They do not offer actual tastings like Celebrity does were they allow the passengers to try six smaller tastings while explaining what liquors were used to create them. It was a lot of fun (at least for my wife). The tasting was successful for them at least with us as we usually had a martini every night before dinner afterward.

They were having tasting of rum I think in one of the onboard shops when we were on Holiday. I only noticed because a guy (maybe 21-22) came in and asked if he could have a drink. The one pouring them said sure and handed him a little cup. Guy asks if he can have one more, Sure have as many as you want, no limit.

Well that was the magic words I guess. He took 5 cups, put 4 across one hand and downed the other. Then quickly went thru the other 4. Stacked them and loaded up again.

We shopped for another 10 minutes probably and he was still downing shots of it when we left LOL

We did the wine tasting on our last cruise and enjoyed it, but this sounds awesome I can't wait to participate ;) Do they advertise such tastings in the capers?

Yes, it will be listed in the capers. It's funny how some of us have missed seeing the wine tastings and some have missed the free liquor tastings. There's just so much to do that I've yet to fit everything in! I'll have to keep an eye out for the wine tasting on our next cruise. We are far from being experts but we really enjoy visiting and touring wineries. The tastings are always lots of fun!

actually on ncl there were 2 tastings, margarita and martini.:p both offered twice during a 7 day cruise and was 6-8 oz sampling 6 different flavors.

at $15 it was fun

Wow did we ever love the margarita clinic on the NCL Star to Alaska in 2007. Lots of great flavors. plus they served us chips, salsa and some of the best guacamole I have ever had. I remember getting slightly toasted before lunch that day adn if you knew me and how little I usually drink, me being drunk at lunchtime is very funny! I love cruises!:p

We had originally planned on trying the Martini clinic but the menu was more of the traditional type martinis and not the fruity modern ones that we like.
