BCEagle78 Posted October 17, 2004 #1 Posted October 17, 2004 Debbi and I are booked on the Volendam on Nov 26. We booked a Category MM, Guarentee. Out of curiosity about how full the ship might be, I have been monitoring through the HAL web page to see what categories are still available and which are closed. As we approach the sailing date, my expectation would be to see most of the cabin categories show as "closed" as they sell out each category. Last week, it was showing all of the inside categories as "closed" but when I look at it today, all inside categories except one are showing "guarentee". With 5 weeks to go, why would they suddenly make almost all inside categories as "guarentee"? By the way, 3 categories of outside are showing "guarentee" now also. Does this mean that they are having trouble selling out the ship? Just curious.
sail7seas Posted October 17, 2004 #2 Posted October 17, 2004 Sometimes it is a matter of TA's having to turn back to HAL cabins they had blocked but have not yet sold. At a certain point, they have to have a pax name to put on a cabin or HAL takes it back to sell themselves. Sometimes folks in lower categories get bumped up to vacate the easier to sell less costly cabins.
gliles Posted October 17, 2004 #3 Posted October 17, 2004 I have been obsessing on our cruise for months now and I can't believe how the availability changes, wait until close to sailing. Ours has gone from most categories being available on day to being completely sold out the next to many categories available again and back and forth, many times. Right now it is sold out, this morning, there were at least 5 categories available. It's all very odd to me.
marybeach Posted October 18, 2004 #4 Posted October 18, 2004 I've been checking several sites also, and agree with you about the ebb and flow of the availability. We are with you on 11/26. I booked an H outside guarantee. We are also waitlisted for the early seating, and I hope for the late/early (i.e., #2...6:15pm), I think, if there are the four dining times. My TA says the docs are in the mail, but the immigration form still has "000" which I suspected. I'm still hoping for a tap from the upgrade fairy. I usually like D or E, forward, Main Deck. We really don't use the balcony much. However, we would not turn it down!! We'll have to compare notes. I'll let you know when I get the docs.:o
jaybur Posted October 18, 2004 #5 Posted October 18, 2004 We are also on the Volendam 11/26 and got our docs last week. Like BCEagle, we are in an MM guarantee. However, as expected, there was no cabin assignment with the docs. I don't expect to get that until about 10 days before sailing, and will have to check the immigration form to find it.

Now if I could find more answers to mystries hehehehehe. :)
BCEagle78 Posted October 18, 2004 Author #7 Posted October 18, 2004 All, especially S7Ss, thanks for your insight. Marybeach, Jaybur, maybe we will run into you on the Volendam! Only 39 days to go!
