Which Cruise lines do the Mediteranian and best value

Recommended Posts

Just about all of the major cruiselines (RCI, Celebrity, Princess, NCL, Carnival, Costa etc.) have ships sailing in the Mediterranean during the summer season and I imagine that the recommendations you receive will reflect the personal biases of those offering the recommendations. The best value is really a matter of which ship offers you the style of cruising you prefer at a price you are willing to pay, and the price may vary considerably depending on the sailing date you select. If you know which lines offer you a cruising style that best fits your taste, check out their website for details and check out their board for comments from those who have sailed with them. :)

Look carefully at the itineraries, too. We were looking at Europe for fall '09, and Costa, for example, wasn't in the ports very long. We ended up booking the Celebrity Century for next october, and we're in each port all day...

We just got back from a 12nt Med Cruise on the Brilliance and it was the best vacation we have ever taken. The ship was very well kept. The staff was some of the best we have seen. The dining room experience was above average while the Windjammer was average at best. The ship tours were excellent as well. In my opinion you can't go wrong sailing on the Brilliance. As well, when we originally booked we had an inside cabin for $1,800/pp as the cheapest balcony was around $3,000/pp, but the prices dropped a couple of times and we ended up with an E1 balcony for $1,600/pp. So, we got an upgrade and a refund. :p Can't beat that!
