OBC with Fun Ship Dollars

I read on here where people pre pay with fun ship dollars and put it as OBC. I'm not asking if its better to put in a saving account or not.

What happens if you don't use it all. Do you get it back or do you get a coupon for a future cruise.

I like the idea of putting some away every paycheck but what if i put to much.

 

Also if you do it how long does it take to show in your onboard credit on Carnival. com

If the OBC is what you purchased with funship dollors, you would get it back at the end of your cruise.

I do this for every cruise. I buy the fun ship dollars and in the address line (normally home address) I put my booking number. If you do not use all of it you will get a check under your door from Carnival. It takes about a week for it to show up. Make sure that you keep a copy of the emails that they will send you confirming your fun ship dollars that you purchased.(they made an error once and I had my email receipt with me) I love doing this because it is out of reach and you have the money when you board.
