wheresmypalmtree Posted August 13, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 13, 2008 We are booking our boats' shore excursion to the baths- we are on the ncl Gem in jan 09 - and ask if anyone has taken either offered excursion. The one that goes by boat all the way requires you swim to the beach, my concern is how does my camera get to shore? The other goes by ferry and then bus, drops you at the top to walk in. If anyone has done either I would love to hear from you Thanx!! lin
Pyrate13 Posted August 13, 2008 #2 Share Posted August 13, 2008 Waterproof camera bags are readily available on line and often in boating stores. That's what I use to keep mine dry. You can even use it to take photos underwater.
wheresmypalmtree Posted August 13, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted August 13, 2008 thanx pyrate, thats an excellent idea! I would rather go to the baths by boat, and that bag would be just what I need. lin

You can even use it to take photos underwater. Get one of these bags, for more than one reason. From what I've read, the (land-based) climb down to The Baths is a bit steep, rocky, slippery ..arduous! No place for your mother.
wheresmypalmtree Posted August 16, 2008 Author #5 Share Posted August 16, 2008 I think I will but a bag, thanx! Arduos is ok, but not when it's 90 and humid. And hey, I am the mother! Walk 1hr per day, certified diver and past 50. I may leave gramma on the shore, though. :D lin
medfordgirl Posted August 29, 2008 #6 Share Posted August 29, 2008 can you explain this boat that drops you off and you must swim? How far? what if you are not a good swimmer? Does the boat wait for you and then you must swim back? do they give you a life vest? How long is the stay at the baths? is there anywhere you can get a drink? If we wear sneakers or water shoes will we have a tough time walking the trail? How long is the trail. There will be 3 of us. Our ages are 14, 49 and 60. Are those the only options? Which do you think is better for us?
