But We ARE Diamond

Recommended Posts

Rising to different levels such as diamond is only done through cruises, correct? No matter how many points you use on the credit card, you cannot move up the levels.

I hope to buy materials at my company using the credit card to earn points quickly, but am I correct in what I said about how you get to be diamond....ect..

Only by the number of nights you spend onboard NOT on the credit card.

You are lucky that you have your seapass cards as with P&O they take them from you when you leave the ship for the last time.

Thank you. I'll read up on the number of nights and how they add up. We'll be going on the 7 night cruise. Really looking forward to it.

1 point per cruise, unless you book a longer cruise then you get two points, or if you book a suite you get two points.

If you book a suite you get the perks of a diamond. In fact those in suites look down on diamonds because diamonds may be just poor people who may cruise often in inside cabins. :D ;)

Hi:

We're Diamond members with RCCL, but they do not have our records from 23 years ago; and our TA doesn't have them either. I really think we have enough credits (cruises) to be Diamond Plus. When I inquired what proof i would need, they said to fax them anything with the dates, pictures, room keys that I could find to show that I was actually on that cruise. I even have names and addresses, back when they used to do that; give you the list of all the passengers in a book.

Since I'll be on the IOS in two weeks, I'm just bringing the proof with me, to show them on our Independence sailing.

Just two weeks to go; getting very excited for our first Med. cruise.

Happy Cruising....Sparkle 10 (Anita):p

If you want to be diamond plus before your next cruise you need to handle this directly with RCCL and not on the ship.

Besides all that, I do not think they have the capacity to deal with this type of thing ON the ship. You may be packing a lot of "proof" for nothing.

I would call RCCL and verify.

It is a good idea to keep all the cruise documents that RC sends you in the mail. We have all ours on the book shelf. In the first few pages they list your C&A number and status, reservation number, dates, cabin, and itinerary. I hope that would be all they need, but who knows.

Good luck in your attempt.

From what I understand, all you need to do is keep your sea pass as your folio number is proof enough.

Thank you. You have explained it nicely. I almost booked a suite, but I saw that the Family Promenade Stateroom was 323 sq. ft. That's pretty good size. Cheaper yet about the same size as the Jr. Suite.

I'm no RCL cheerleader but it is unreasonable to expect them to have records from 32 years ago before they even had a loyalty program.

The OP never said how long ago his missing cruises were.

We've been trying to get them to credit our May 2007 cruise for over a year now so I can relate to the person who said their record keeping could be better. There should be no problem at all at their end in determining that we sailed a year ago yet, it's a problem.

We can't assume it's just really old credits that are missing.

When they were setting up the program lots of stuff did come up missing on computers, as did happen with most companies, doctors offices, etc.

They asked for "almost anything", and being a pack rat, I found my sea passes, boarding passes from our airlines, pictures of Captains. I even listed the dates, ship, Captain's names, and names of several other staff for each cruise. Made copies of everything and mailed it in. Took a while be we are now Diamond....

And I have certainly had problems with other cruise lines. My preference is Royal Caribbean. In fact, HAL gave me more credits than we had....

Thanks for all of your comments. Some of you would defend the cruise line if the lost your first born! We have been on Explorer(2), Mariner (3), Grandeur (2), Enchantment, Radiance, and Voyager. That is ten, right? They have us on Navigator for one of our cruises and we have never been on that ship. This is interesting, too. I just looked at the HAL board and someone posted that they just received an e-mail from HAL asking to check to verify if they had the right number of Mariner Days for them?

What a different approach!

Thank you for your suggestions. I was told by RCCL that it could be handled on the ship, but I see your point reference getting it handled beforehand, so we could be Diamond + on this cruise.

Also, on one of our Princess cruises, they had the wrong amount listed that we had cruised with them; and I told them on the ship the number of times we've sailed with them and they corrected it right there and didn't even ask to see any proof.

Thanks again....Sparkle 10 (Anita)

Hey ML, my problem is my cruise history is screwed up on the web page, but when I contact customer service they have me as having the correct number of credits.

... but don't look for anything to do after 8pm. HAL's Vista ships close down very early. Well, except the disco and casino. And the disco is smaller than my bedroom. I prefer RCI over HAL and I'm in my mid 50's. I may sail with HAL again in twenty or so years.

Maybe you were just on an unusual cruise. That is not most people's experience who have sailed HAL. Yes, they certainly gear a lot of their activities towards an older crowd than does Royal Caribbean, but I am a night person and I was never bored on the Noordam. There were fewer activities to pick from than on Royal Caribbean but there was entertainment in the evening, kareoke, casino, live music, and multiple lounges open.

After having a horrible experience on Mariner in October a couple of years ago and swearing we would never go back, we are considering RCI for our upcoming anniversary cruise. This will be our 11th sailing on Royal. Our C & A records are all screwed up and they only show nine cruises. (They even have one on there that we did not take!) Anyway, they found two others but still insist that we have only nine. They have asked that we send a receipt or photo of us on the sailing in dispute to prove that we were there. For crying out loud! Have any of you had this problem and how did you resolve it? I do not know why I am surprised that their cheap liquor in the concierge lounge is more valuable than a loyal customer.

we had the same issue with our platinum status the last cruise, even though we booked the thing through them directly and used our Platinum numbers.

I was more than annoyed that we seemed to have to ask for every "extra" we were entitled to.

Mine is the opposite. On the web it actuallly shows more than I have but C & A show one less and that's the one that counts. Weird. Left hand...right hand...

It is the same with me and when I called they said getting my Diamond perks would not be affected by the online info. Besides we did get a letter congratulation us on becoming Diamond.

So if you have any correspondence to that effect I would send/bring it.

I think you should be happy they are willing to recitfy the problem if you give them proof of your sailing, for crying out loud!

OP,

ALL cruiselines have the same problem as far as having records from years ago. Before there were the loyalty programs, they didn't have any reason to keep track of cruisers.

I have had this problem with Royal, Carnival, Celebrity, HAL and Princess. So, it's not just a problem for RCI.

If being Diamond is important enough, then I guess you need to find the documentation. Otherwise, just go and enjoy your cruise and then you won't have to worry about the cheap liquor in the CL.

When our kids were little (back in the 80's) we took them on cruises with us and I had scrapbooks of all those cruises including everyone's seapass cards. This past January our youngest son and his wife (he's now 32) went on a cruise with us. I scanned all his sea pass cards from the scrapbook and emailed them in to Crown and Anchor. When he got on the ship, he was Platinum status and got a few extra perks because of it.

If you have your seapass you have your folio number... that is what they really want.

Our record on C&A site is way way way off. We don't care as long as C&A OFFICE has it correct.

Once we figured out all they really wanted/needed we started to keep our own record and print it off and bring it with us. Easy breezy.

Here are the columns contents:

FOLIO #___SAIL DATE___SHIP__ITINERARY___CREDITS

I trust me, I keep it up to date... and they can't dispute actual data provided by RCI. :)

Hope this helps.

I also had my sea pass cards in a photo album and copied them and sent them to RCL who in turn credited those cruises. So yes they count:D
LOL, I think I can top all of you, I had to send them a copy of a video tape from a cruise I took in 1992 on the Nordic Prince. Thats all I needed for D+....Was it worth all that trouble? Probably not but I had time on my hands. DH who is just platinum, likes my perks. But I dont't drink so the free booze ( notice the spelling) doesnt interest me. When you need something on the ship you do get paid a little more attention to.
