fletchers5 Posted April 15, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 15, 2004 Has anyone every had a quad booked and paid and then changed to two doubles??? I noticed that per person for quad is more expensive now than per person for two doubles. Can I change the quad to two doubles if I have a room assignment. DMorris Posted April 15, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 15, 2004 If the cabins are available and you aren't in penalty period your TA can make changes for you. fletchers5 Posted April 15, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted April 15, 2004 called my TA. She called RCCL and they told her that since I booked a cabin number that I could not change. I should have booked gaurantee which I told my TA that I didn't know the difference at first. They never explained that to me. I will know for future cruises to book Guarantee not room assignment. I was also told for credit for the difference in price--- that I could not get a credit unless that same floor, room catagory was available. D4 Posted April 15, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 15, 2004 You may be disappointed if you book a quad guarantee instead of a specific cabin. I don't know for sure about RCCL, but other cruise lines may give you a triple and a cot which would be less than desirable.
Family of 14 Posted April 15, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 15, 2004 I never recommend booking a guarantee. In fact, this doesn't sound like correct information. Not on RCCL, but on Celebrity, we exchanged our paid stateroom for another stateroom just three weeks out. Maybe you should try calling RCCL yourself and ask them if you can change. cmjaffe Posted April 16, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 16, 2004 Didn't see your "original" post.. did you see a lower price for doubles than what your paying for the 3rd/4th. That's what we did for Alaska. RCCL was running a special for guarantees (and they NEVER offer triples and quads as guarantees) which was I believe a Promowave price. So we booked 2 cabins instead of 1 quad and took our chances for being near ... was 3 cabins away.. Sometimes when there are specials they'll be for guarantees, or happy hours specials but then you'd need to be a new booking and usually they're offered after final payment. just4kixx Posted April 16, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 16, 2004 We just did it as well. (Went from 2 quads-cat M to 2 triples and a double-cat K) Our TA said that RCI said it was okay because a) we had booked with insurance, and b) we hadn't yet paid in full, only made a deposit. The additional cost was just $900 over the original booked price for 2 smaller quads! Not sure what the two reasons have to do with anything though... I'd call RCI directly and see Good Luck A '95 Carnival Sensation 4/28/97 RCCL Sovereign of the Seas 7/01 Celebrity Horizon 6/02 Norwegian Sea 6/22/03 Disney Wonder ... till 6/20/04 Rhapsody of the Seas
