I live in southeast Texas, across the border from Louisiana, but we celebrate many Louisiana traditions.

 

Several communities in this area have Mardi Gras parades. The small beach community of Crystal Beach, which was almost destroyed by Hurricane Ike in September, is one. Even though cleanup is ongoing, the community decide to still have a parade.

This community needed an excuse to party. Scenes like this are still common but the cleanup work continues....

 

On a personal note, we installed a hot water heater at our house this weekend. Hopefully, we are almost ready to stay overnight.

Thanks Cruiser, take I80 to Chicago, turn North on I94 and take that to Rosebud. You should be able to make it there and back in 3 days if you don't sleep.

Thanks MNBruce! The Sandia Mountains change colors all the time..purple, pink, blue-ish....so this golden color really caught my eye!
